Knife range

Post by keef_haggerd »

Now one thing that I have a problem with is when I sneak up behind a sniper to knife him and it takes me 3 or 4 stabs.

In ET they had it so if you approached someone, aimed in a spot for a about a full second an icon would come up and you could kill them in one knife swipe. I think something like this should be in PR. there could be your normal stab or whatever that takes a certain amount of hits to kill someone, and you could have your i dont know what to call it, but your lethal stab.

i think it would be very easy to do this, give the knife 2 "firing" modes. your normal quick stab/slash, and your much slower to "reload" one stab kill kind of stab.

u mean like 3/4 small stabs or one huge jab with all you strength? sounds ok.

i like the 2 fire idea, youre primary knife attack can be something like a slash which takes 2 hits and then the other should be a stab that takes just 1.

Or second fire just slits their throat rather than u ramming a knife really hard into them to kill em in one go

I haven't had any problems with the knife in BF2. All the kills I've gotten have been one hit. And if you're knife isn't working for ya... you can always shoot him in the back of the head.

well, during my sniper ninja JTF2 commando airborne HALO training we learned that the most effective to kill an individual via knife was an upward thrust jsut below the rib cage in the back. At the same time, you're free hand covers their mouth and pulls the neck back. by doing so, you've not only dealt a fairly critical wound, but you've punctured the lung and blocked escaping wind, so its quite silent.

Although i never learned this myself, i know some from Special groups who have. Maybe do that?

In my experience, every knife kill is a one hit kill... hit a guy in the leg, he dies instatnly...

ive had episodes in this game where (no lie) i have shot him at least 3 times in the back with a pistol and then knifed him repeatedly and he has not died, i know im hitting him because the dust or whatever that flies off of the character when theyre hit.... lag? hacks?

the thing that troubles me is some guy will be in prone, and i crouch, and i think because im crouching, it takes me 2-3 knife swipes to hit him. I havent a clue as to why.

Head slices should be one hit kills, goin for the jugular(sp?) . Chest should be 2 hit stabs and extremities should be 3-4

I had a similar experience, snuck up on a sniper on top of the crane in the havoc >.> and my gunner let rip... the guy took about 20 rounds before he went down, not moving much the whole time.

i could imagine some pretty gory scenes if you used a stab in the neck. blood spurting out and all that

The windpipe's faint breathing/drowning noises would be worse than the bleeding IMO, but I doubt and hope no game would add those.

that would be a little TOO realistic for me, and make me cap the guy in the head instead of slitting his throat =X
