FPS drop

Post by Cpl.Hansen88 »

Hi. I get a HUGE FPS drop whenever i look at trees and other foliage. It only happens when i look at foliage. My graphics driver is updated and should be good to go! My computer is more than capable of running this game as i can play brand new games with settings on high. This is happening in the beta btw. Is there a reason and a fix for this?

Thanks

Reasons:

Foilage requires a lot of processing/resources/hardware power.

I don't doubt that your PC runs brand new games fine. However, I doubt that the brand new games are mods that are made for free.

The brand new games are optimised by experienced and paid professionals with the time to do that sort of work.

PR includes community factions and content without uniform optimisation procedures ...they use rough guidelines (i.e ensuring we can acquire new content from many different sources which is a good thing for a free game where the devs do not get paid).

RAID.
RAMDISK.
OC.
UPGRADE.
CHINESE RAM.
CROSSFIRE.

These are your options.

The case is not that easy at all mate. A friend of mine has lower specs than I have, but still runs everything smoothly on high settings. Any tips?

I found my problem. PR doesent recognize my Nvidia 710M card, and uses the integrated one instead. Is there any way to solve this?

In the Nvidia control panel,

Force these programs to use the discrete GPU
PRbf2.exe
prmumble.exe
prlauncher.exe

As far as I can tell, it's actually PRMumble that is forcing the PC to use the integrated iGPU. So once you switch it to use the dedicated, you should be good.

I'm on Windows 7 and I'm having the same problem. The thing is that even though I set Mumble to use the discrete GPU, the "NVIDIA GPU Activity" icon in the system tray does not list prmumble.exe, only the game and the launcher. And even though the game is listed there, it does not seem like the game is actually running on the Nvidia card (assumption based on the fact that I'm not feeling the heat under my left hand that is usually there when I play games).

If making the Nvidia card the global setting doesn't work, [s]then I'm going to try switching off the integrated Intel chip and see if that runs any better.[/s]

EDIT: Turns out that's impossible.
