Great job on PR 1.0 I've been playing PR since the beginning. So proud of you guys. I was even an R-Con for a little bit! You guys are almost there. I can't wait.
Here's my feedback.
What could use a revision.
1 - The "wait 60 seconds before you can give up" thing doesn't work. Everyone hated it, from what I could tell.
2 - This has been bugging me for several releases. Picking up an enemy kit also gives you their helmet and backpack. With the issue of the player tags, please, please, please, get rid of this. Make it so you just pick up the gun. If the solution to the player tags is to turn off all of them, then having the wrong helmet is just gonna make you a TK target so quick!
What worked well
1 - The explosions are INCREDIBLE! Next gen!
2 - The sounds!
3 - The mumble integration!
4 - The Hind!
Great job!

They can't. It's hardcoded or something like that.Make it so you just pick up the gun
It works, and nobody is against it, from what I could tell. What could use a revision.

I hated it until I realized that I couldn't re-spawn earlier anyway - then thought it fantastic (always pissed me off when I ran across a firefighter to try to get a guy up who gave up).npsxbox wrote: What could use a revision.

This addition is about educating the player base how it works / why it is being implemented. Only the extremely narrow minded will hate it once they understand the dynamics.
Great idea.

Actually they can, it would just be a hell of a lot of work. Pr Normandy manages to do it quite nicely.Unhealed wrote:They can't. It's hardcoded or something like that.

It's not hardcoded, it was actually added in around .75-.80, I forget why (maybe to discourage picking up kits because of friendly fire, or to show the rocket on your back if you pick up LAT or HAT). If you remember in vBF2, you don't pick up the helmet/backpack, just the gun. I've always liked it though because makes it easier to disguise yourself, especially now that they've gotten rid of nametagsUnhealed wrote:They can't. It's hardcoded or something like that.

I always heard people on mumble complaining about it. If you know for a fact no one is coming to get you up, why add an extra 60 seconds to your spawn time? 30 seconds is enough. (I believe the first death is 30 seconds...I might be wrong)'[FC wrote:Freddie;1915543']I hated it until I realized that I couldn't re-spawn earlier anyway - then thought it fantastic (always pissed me off when I ran across a firefighter to try to get a guy up who gave up).

Vanilla doesn't have great kit specific geometries. In PR medic has medic bags, squad leader has radio etc etc. These are linked to kits and as such picking enemy kits give you the enemy geometries.JackAttack91 wrote:It's not hardcoded, it was actually added in around .75-.80, I forget why (maybe to discourage picking up kits because of friendly fire, or to show the rocket on your back if you pick up LAT or HAT). You see, this is exactly what is spoken about above. The ability to not give up doesn't make your spawn time greater, it just doesn't allow you to give up earlier because it serves no purpose to give up before you can spawn.npsxbox wrote:I always heard people on mumble complaining about it. Re: My 2 cents
I believe this is wrong. In .98, when you give up, your spawn timer immediately starts. In 1.0, this is also true, except that you have to wait to give up until the game lets you, and the spawn timer mechanics remain unchanged. So you have your spawn timer + your give up timer. Making it effectively longer for no reason, in case there's no way a medic will get to you.Pvt.LHeureux wrote:You see, this is exactly what is spoken about above. No, in 0.98 if you give up after say 40 seconds, you will be able to spawn instantly (with a 5 sec delay I think). Same was in 1.0 BETA, you had to wait 1 minute to give up, then when you gave up, you had like 5 seconds of delay, then you could spawn. At least that was for me, playing on US servers.

Re: My 2 cents
My first thought was that it was a bad change too, but I realized that it was the best thing ever for medics risking there necks only to realize the person hit give up instantly.
As soon as your wounded your "re-spawn" timer starts counting so there is nothing gained by quickly pressing give up even if you could. There is a minimum of 5 sec like Pvt.LHeureux mentions though.
I can think of a scenario that would be a bit odd though.
Someone wanna die so he can spawn somewhere else and ask someone to shoot him....then a medic comes by and "rescues" him
.
Those people should use the suicide button though, that's what it's fore.
