I like the change!
In the old version every squad member was "holding" there binos when we hold the position. With the new Version i think it will be the Map. :)

REMOVE THE MAP! Only the SL and special kets should have one. :)
(only joking, but its realistic)

Well it did not break gameplay as some people said without even trying. But nayo here do have a point that you can see alot better (the arma example) than what you'd normally do in a video game. Since when the conventional factions faced each other i saw no problem(except the ease of spotting) but that problem is the same on the other side.

However on Black gold INS, I think the insurgents actually have an advantage of the Chinese with their binocs. This problem isn't so obvious on ramiel as it's smaller and has alot of obstacles. (do the arf even get binocs?)

I see two solutions.
The old system. (pls no)
Give the unconventional faction's binoculars the same level of zoom as a standard assualt rifle scope.

They'll certainly ***** if you're pointing them at what your team leader is looking at when you should be pointing your weapon at it, and if you didn't put mesh or a honeycomb over the lenses to keep them from reflecting. But whether or not you can even bring them depends on the policies of that nation-state's conventional military. And I certainly don't give enough fucks to look-up the regulations for all of the factions in game or make-up the regulations for a fictional one that should have been canned.

And if you gave every kit access to every item that could be privately purchased by a troop and brought on a deployment (and, no, those of you whose knowledge of the subject is based on what you read about World War II and Vietnam, that has long since stopped including small arms), there wouldn't be any kit slots left for things that do more than just benefit a single player's score or make him feel 1337, and this mod would take up too much memory.

However, once a money or experience point system to buy equipment in the game is implemented in late Notever of this year you can purchase them and various items for your kit, such as new skins for camouflage, custom helmets, etc. Anti-reflective devices for the binoculars and other scopes sold separately, of course, just like reality. Until then you'll just have to deal with what actually gets issued. But once your character dies, you'll lose the accessories you bought for him and have to start over again. You're not respawning as the same guy, you know, so they have to keep with the name of the mod somewhat.

PR doesn't have sunlight reflections, not even the scopes on the rifles have anti-reflective devices, that's a moot point. The CO won't ***** at you for pointing the binoculars at the enemy when the enemy is 3 pixels tall and 2 pixels wide. Regulations? You do know they are not supposed to have porn and stuff with them, don't you? It's not like regulations matter, there was some guy using a Ppsh-41 with an Eotech for around a month in patrols until the CO chewed him out.

I'm not saying to give them everything that's possible to be bought, just to keep what we already had. How come a rag tag bunch of insurgents have 500 thousand binoculars but the US Army and USMC doesn't?

I know it was to be taken as a joke, but if PR ever has unlockables i will set the DEVs ablaze.

If we cant do the arma style eye zoom then certain iron sight but long range kits like the HAT should still have binos.

I dont think medics need binos and in general i found gameplay to be immensely enhanced by not having binos. People actually lay down suppressive fire and are forced to communicate much more to figure out enemy movement and their own relative positions.

I have a very high resolution (2560), so it has less of an effect on me, but for people who run at lower resolutions having binoculars help compensate for the difference.

You need binoculars for video game, because there are distance where in real life you can tell differences where in video game thous 2 pixel put how you want you cant tell what it is.

Ye sure, that's on the one hand, but on the other hand you still need them to see as you would just see in real life, as ALFABETAS said. In real life you don't have pixel, the resolution is infinite, hence the need of binos in my opinion.

Just played 098 again with ironsights and binos and and long range fights were much more interesting, you got a clue whats going on around you and got to know were suppression fire was useful or when you better lay down. I dont understand this whole "oh binos are not realistic, if you want to know whats up use your map". I think its not the right way to tab the Map out every 3 seconds to know whats going on. It takes much away from the gameplay, if i want to look at the map all the time i can go commander. The nametag changes force you to look on the map more often, why its nice to look for every contact too? There is nothing realistic about this, the better way is if the Map is a helping tool, but if you got a contact you should first try use your sights or binos regulary, not the other way around. Whats is the point to know all the factions and how their kits look if you have to tab out your map every time....

People are missing the point arguing about kits and all that stuff.

What it comes down to, in a video game you can't see as well as you could in real life. You need a simple way to zoom in a bit to imitate focusing your eyes on something. Has nothing to do with kits or medics job. Just the fact that you HAVE to have some way of zooming in a bit to know what it is you see.

Be it 50 meters or 300 meters away you don't see it as well as you would in real life, without additional zoom in the game. Binoculars provided this quite well, but even a smaller level of zoom would suffice.

We're going around in circles now, so let's prevent ourselves from having the same discussion :) .

Thanks for your feedback! We very much appreciate it and we'll take it all into consideration.
