Lack of UK servers?

Where did all the UK players go, and the UK based communities and clans?

My 'nearest' full servers are ]CIA[ and [NEW] but pings get high and connection losses are frequent.

How much does it cost to host a PR server these days, and how difficult is it to manage? Might be a good investment opportunity, maybe...

Think a LOT of guys are really waiting for 1.0 to come out and have stepped down on PR for the coming time. our clan, NwA, is hosting a server again so you can join that one and I know the MeRk guys are also back in action. It's just a matter of dedicated seeding so other people will see a server filling up and joining in aswell.

Hosting a server is pretty costly and with increasing server sizes for 1.0 (up to the server host ofc) the costs will only rise. If you want to contribute you're probably better of finding a clan which suits you and make contributions there to help the server stay online

There is plenty of servers ready to be seeded, all it needs is dedicated people to seed it and enough admins to keep things organised.

Servers located in for example Germany doesn't mean that it is only Germans btw. so those can also be used.

I sometimes join the north american servers though, but that means I will serve as a medic most of the time, and being pilot is a bad idea.

Iirc NWA was hosted in Germany most Euro servers are.

and the ping isn't really a matter. Around 130 it starts to get abit of annoying hitbox wise but still ok and playable. And that's the ping I have to the east coast of USA from Germany.

Is NWA server down? havnt seen it the last few times I've tried to get a game and there were no other decent servers. been busy and missing PR quite a bit.

I used to play in Europe with a 40 now I play with 230 big bad difference....

PRTA is overall waiting as well. We even have some events on hold.

I enjoyed most my time on nwa but I really hope that 1.0 becomes popular enough that I have a choice of more than 1 server.

NwA was hosted in Germany for 2 reasons. 1 cost, Germany was cheaper, 2 ping, a lot of our player base is European so hosting in Germany gave every one in Europe a stable low ping. Also pings from the USA is lower in Germany than the UK.

Temp server is hosted in the UK as we found a game server host charging very low price per month for a 64 slot server. We will be moving back to a dedi box for 1.0 due to hardware demands and game server host not willing to give us the needed server power for less than it would cost for a dedi box. ?80 per month including the bandwidth and licences for OS, firewall, server monitor, domain, etc etc.

I would encourage you all to support the DEVs and your favourite clan server.

PR, play it because you like it. Support it because you like playing it.
