Mumble Local
Is it just me or are people in the new integrated mumble version kinda hard to locate if the talk on local?
i mean i can clearly hear their voice but somehow i have the feeling it comes equally from both speakers... had this problem as a combat medic on black gold...
anyone agree with me?

Yes i agree.
I play with surround sound headset and while you can pinpoint theyr location
it was rather hard to do so.
I think maybe it was because the voice got to loud in a closer space around you.

Huh, may be true. Haven't noticed myself, but a friend I introduced to PR yesterday said, he'd find it really hard to localise people on the local chat.

Well, the problem is that you can only choose between 2 speaker configuration and headphones. And headphones are only capable of doing left and right in mumble... which is obviously wrong.

Sometimes I felt like friendly was talking in front of me, but in fact he was behind.

I thought it was my setup. I looked into mumble settings to see if something wasn't right and ran the configure/audio settings wizard a couple times

Yeah I found it to be a little less accurate than the current 1.04b version of PRmumble. Not sure why that is though

As well as I. I switched between headphone and surround sound, but it still gave me the same problem.

Change your settings. In control panel go to audio controls, mic recive and transit volume. Turn transit up.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:Alot of people complain I'm too quiet on local whereas my squad mumble is audible.

Same here, talked about this in another thread. It is kinda of hard fo be medic with unprecise local and lack of tags.
Integrated mumble is bringing so many issues. Maybe devs should give up with it and stick with tbe old, good and working one.

I didnt seem to notice any problem. Maybe its because Im using virtual surround headset or something I changed with my mumble settings.
And please bring 1 channel local back. Like it used to be.

I have not noticed any issues with the integrated mumble beyond the fact that people within 1 m of you sound like they're talking in squad channel. It can get a little confusing at times, but is a minor issue.

Not at all hard to locate teammates via Mumble, however that "between round mumble chat" during which the new or current map is being loaded needs to be added because it's rather boring without that little chat prior to launch!

Re: Mumble Local
This is a big problem actually, that could be resolved by adding some kind of radio "click" at the beggining of transmision in SL channel. Just to notify you that stuff that you are hearing is going to be important.Tartantyco wrote:I have not noticed any issues with the integrated mumble beyond the fact that people within 1 m of you sound like they're talking in squad channel. I WANT LOCAL CHAT SO YOU CAN TALK TO ENEMIES...
That is fun ****.... being dead silent when u know enemies in floor above you then just scream...
"RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Then enemies start playing music and stuff!

So did I when I came back to PR. It seemed odd that we could chat with impunity when the enemy was right around the corner.matty1053 wrote:I WANT LOCAL CHAT SO YOU CAN TALK TO ENEMIES...
But IRL hand signals and squad-based training would be utilised, neither of which we can do in Project Reality - so side-locked local seems like a fair trade off.
