Mumble Overlay ala PR 1.0 and Local key preference
Hey all,
Just on my way home ahead of a full evening of PR!
Is there anyway to get a name overlay of Mumble talkers ingame like in PR 1.0b?
Also, what key do you guys use to talk to your squad, and local?
I've been using V to talk to squad, like my old VoIP key, and a thumb button on my mouse for local, but I'm thinking of switching them over tonight as you should use local in a fire fight, and not having to hold down a mouse button whilst moving it round to shoot people should make firefights easier.
Might unbind B tonight also, my PR commander key. Servers disabling voip and forcing mumble is the way forward (from a previous mumble skeptic!)

I switched from using two buttons on my mouse to F for local and V for squad. It doesn't feel quite right yet, but it's better than having to lose a firefight because your grip on the mouse is bad.

C for local, Alt for squad.

I use C for cycle view (mounted weapon zoom) and F for map (handy for on the fly orientation)
I do think mouse binds are to be avoided as you say... Might just just V local and B squad then, that'd sort it!

That's what I do. V local, B squad. Mainly because I'm too lazy to remember new keybinds and V and B already used to be VoIP keys anyway.

In a pinch though, you're pressing V to speak locally, and only local people can help you when the fire goes down. When a situation is more relaxed, i.e. separated by spawn and requesting orders, you can stretch your index to B.
Sorted!
The overlay question is outstanding though.

I prefer C for squad chat, and V for local. Sometimes C messes me up if I'm gunning or what not, but I'm usually just INF.
And now, we wait.....

Q for squad-chat
A for Local
But thats because I have a ESDF instead of the regular WASD setup.

Using ESDF as well. A is squad, Middle MB is local. Might change that to W, but that's currently assigned to BF2 VOIP.

Layout in the left bottom corner, and V for local, ALT for squad, 0 on numpad SL radio, 1-9 numpad squads radio, and * for commander.
I only change local and squad chanel.

Re: Mumble Overlay ala PR 1.0 and Local key preference
I have both side mouse buttons set to local mumble, and LALT for squad. The rest of the mumble keys are default.
The only other outstanding keybind is that I have F set to weapon 3 for quick fire mode changing. A habit leftover from when I used to play Combat Arms.

Use buttons on my mouse for local and squad. Haven't had a problem with it so far.

ESDF sounds interesting, might give that a go. Though Most my VOIP is on my mouse.

I use a variation of one of Ancientman's overlays. It does everything the 1.0 beta overlay does, but also shows which squad members are actually in Mumble. I can also change the transparency of the text and the position to my liking.
I don't understand why more players don't use it in 0.98. But I suppose its all about preference.
For me, I wish I could have some options with the overlay in 1.0 that would get it closer to what I currently use in 0.98. I also think a lot of players would like to be able to customize it to some degree too.
