Binoculars for irregulars
Hi, I have to say one of my biggest grudges with 1.0 (one of my only actually) is the fact that irregulars like the militia and ARF all have binoculars. The intentions are good but ultimately it gives them an edge over Blufor, which is somewhat unbalancing and unrealistic. Personally i think only Commanders, scouts, spotters, marksmen, snipers, Sappers and MGs should have Binoculars. This way the insurgents arent totally deprived of longer range observation but dont have such an edge over Blufor which they really dont deserve. Anyone else have an opinion on this? (could possibly have a poll?)

Most of the blufor teams can shoot while zoomed, they need to switch. Though i would go with you and limit them somewhat, just for the sake of it.

Re: Binoculars for irregulars
Almost all blufor kits have scoped weapons, and i probably don't have to tell you how much advantage do you have with scope when facing enemies without scope. That makes blufor more powerful when engaging. Binoculars are only usefull for spotting the enemies from far away, if you take them from those factions, then they will be put in a huge disadvantage. Unable to detect enemy activity at long range, and to distinguish friendly units, that will make it extremely easy for blufor to just rush to the cashe and stay undetected from afar.waldov wrote:Hi, I have to say one of my biggest grudges with 1.0 (one of my only actually) is the fact that irregulars like the militia and ARF all have binoculars. I say, if we remove the binoculars from regulars, give them some sort of scoped weapon. but that is highly improbable so the only thing we can do is just leave it as it is.

I think a simple solution to the problem could be done by leaving the binoculars with OPFOR as they are, but with significantly decreased magnification (let's say x2 or x3, no more). The current binoculars are too powerful.

Dirtier binoculars perhaps? Less FOV?

If u ask me, i would remove them completely only SL and Spoter should have it. Just becouse of team and squad play!
As i notice, a lot of guys are just so curious, that if SL start to looking with binoc. in some directions, suddenly almost all sq are looking with binoc. the same direction, which remind me of summer time, with friends on some beach when u see one hot chick, evreybody start looking there like little horny ponies! hehe
Just my opinion.

The reason we need to keep binos for irregulars is the fact that we cannot implement a zoom function (to simulate your eyes focussing on something further away). I hate that we all have nice binos, but it is needed for gameplay.

actually providing insurgent type factions with binoculars actually promotes balance.
i do not understand why the DEVs put that cross type reticle inside the binoculars now. it serves no purpose.

The PR team Stock options were all invested into monocular research and development companies. So in order to get us all to convert in PR 1.1 we will all get monoculars. They will talk about have you can have one eye for whats infront of you and the other looking long distance. Its all a cover up man.

Re: Binoculars for irregulars
I have to disagree with you here. Let's start with the unrealistic: A soldier of a BluFor faction usually gets a gear loadout. Most of the times without binos. That's the reason it got removed in 1.0. While an irregular is more free to do with his loadout. They improvises with their gear and it's likeley that they carry a bino. They do not have to carry all the other heavy stuff a blufor soldier needs to. So it's not completly unrealistic.waldov wrote:unbalancing and unrealistic
To the unbalancing. This one actually made me laugh. Unbalancing? Because they get Binos? Ofc. Irregulars so gonna be OP with their binos against: scopes on nearly all weapons, heavy armor, partly jets (black gold). It's the opposite. It's providing balance for irregulars against all that stuff.

I prefer opfor having binocs.
It would balance gameplay.

You do not get shot by binos.
No justifiable BluFor crying. BluFor gets everything else; such as BUIS...etc.

Re: Binoculars for irregulars
Irregulars having binoculars also compensates for the fact that in real life, the civilian population will pass information on BluFor movements on to the insurgents.
