unable to open BF2 process

Hi, I know this theme is somewhere here, but I cannot find it.
After 6 months i looked forward returning to PR, but had problems with my PR mumble - staying in root, cannot connect to server, where am I playing.

I uniinstalled PRmumble, Project reality and BF2
I opend regedit and cleard registr from mumble, project reality...

Then i made a clean installation. Every Setup had changed compactibility - properties -> run in WinXP SP3 and run like an administrator.

I installed BF2, patch 1.41 and 1.50

Then I installed pr_0973 - each setup has properties -> run in WinXP SP3 mode and run like an administrator

Afterthat I installed patch pr_0981 - same run in mode WinXP SP3 and run like an admin.

I opened file, where game is installed - BF2/mods/pr/pr.exe and checked its:
run in WinXP SP3 mod and run like an administrator

the same for PRmumble (when i downloaded it from web, i couldnt change properties in setup.exe to run like an administrator, only run it)

When I am running game firstime, it gave me a message:
ERROR: unable to open BF2 process

but I made everything corectly, didnt I?

When I try to run it again, the game start. I try to connect to same server and:
Firstime - it cannot connect me
If i try it again - it connect me to the server
?!

I can join the game, then i go to desktop and open PRmumle (whitch is already running - before the game), I am staying in root

So I submit I cannot truly connect to PRMumble - server. When first running PRMumble it ask me to permit some certifikate ?!

I never had these problems. And they are the same even I cleared register by regedit?!

I installed new drivers for VGA, NET framework, java ...

I have Win7 Pro 64bit


Every hint sayes: Run like administrator....I have done it, but problem stayes...

Looks like you did everything for installation correctly.

What version of BF2 do you own... Steam, EA Origin, retail DVD, etc?

I do not believe you should run it as XP SP3 compatibility, that is probably the source of your problems here.

Run PRMumble first.
Run PRMumble as an Admin.
Run PR as an Admin.

thanks, I have a DVD version. Try to install it againt and let it compactable WinXP SP2 ... but I dont hope for repair...

I have my secure setting in Windows all shuted down... only firewall is my Kasperski IS and he is down too...

How old is the DVD?

You have to allow the mumble certificate.

Did you do anything to the video files? (Shortcut on desktop or folder)

Which server did you join? Might be a server without mumble channel.

Try NEW server or QRF.


And then join/create squad. At least THEN mumble should move you to correct channel.

DVD is very old... But 6 months ago, everything run alright. I accepted all certificate of course, but nothing happend. I tried Zebra, merk... still staying in root.

How i understood when I join server in PRMumble should write connected Radegast1.cz to server...but it doesnt show.

Now I am installing it and everything is configure for WinXP SP2

P.S: Do you think it is better to buy version from STEAM?

Are you sure DVD BF2 version is already 1.3 ? There is also a 1.3 BF2 patch, a friend needed that one prior to 1.41... but if BF2 works, alright.

No, DVD version patched should be perfectly fine (maybe Origin version even cheaper then Steam btw), Then it is something to do with PR Mumble (you have version "1.0 Beta" of PR Mumble, right?? )

H. UNinstalling and Reinstalling

Now lookup for folder named Mumble there and delete it. Reboot and Reinstall the newest PRMumble

Problem solved...dont ask me, how. I reinstalled that game so much, i cannot count that. But this night it worked.

Btw r u playing PR in any community/clan yet? Makes playing even more fun, with complete map-wide strategies in a clan-battle every now and then...

ou ou ... on Sunday it worked
on Mondey it didnt work

so I am going to continue to fixing the problem. Maybe it would be wise using CCleaner for uniinstal the game and PRMumble I hope it would clear registry.
