Re: Streaming Project Reality
In light of recent events I think that streaming will be the bane of gaming. I now have a very dim view of people who are "streaming" games.

Re: Streaming Project Reality
Why the ironic "streaming", and why do you take a dim view of those doing it?

I think I know where this is going. No names, please, or I'll have to delete posts again.

Re: Streaming Project Reality
Some people abused a stream to gain advantage for shits and giggles.
I don't think it's fair to blame the people streaming (they are trying to promote PR), although they could avoid any accusations if they delayed the stream to minimise the opportunity to give away team information inadvertently.

No blaming here.[R-MOD]IINoddyII wrote:Some people abused a stream to gain advantage for shits and giggles.

A video would serve the same purpose if you were trying to "promote PR". The quality is better too. Jafar's 1.0 beta stream doesnt count because his stream was mostly blocked by his map or wounded screen. Lol

You've now placed ironic quotation marks around both "streaming" and "promote PR".DDS wrote:No blaming here.

Could you elaborate?

I think the "promote PR" ones were just to indicate that he quoted Noddy.

The quality of streaming totally depends on what game it is you're playing, and you can easily get just as good quality as recording if you set your settings right and you got the hardware to run it.DDS wrote:No blaming here.

Also the other perks with it which have been mentioned here many times already is that it takes less performance then recording + it doesn't take any hard drive space and for me that is one of the main reason why I do it, since I don't have a hard drive with enough space for recording as well as I don't like performance hits.
+ it's just much more fun then recording since you can in real time talk and interact with your viewers watching. And thats also one of the reasons why many people don't want to set a delay either. While it also wouldn't work that good for PR since it's slow paced and any map critical things like FOB's and cache locations would still probably be ghosted.
And you said that Jafar mostly spent his time on the map or wounded screen well it will still give all those things away I just mentioned above.
Like seriously there shouldn't be a need for augmenting this. Ghosting is ghosting and it's just as easy to do it ingame if you really want to do it and should still be treated the same way imo.
I have watched streams on JTV/ and twitch tv since 2008 now and I like it alot more then watching pre recorded footage on youtube, and it is also an easy way to discover new personalities as well as games to play and it's just so much more fun when you can interact with the broadcaster directly and also ask any questions you may want to ask and get direct feedback.
Just want to mention this again too I have streamed games and PR for several months now and this ghosting problem has just recently started to become a problem because some people just decided to exploit something in a cheap way thats actually really only positive but managed to turn it into a negative thing. I'm not going to stop because of this though and let people like that win and it would be nice if more people would become aware of this and find a way to fight it except obviously stop streaming.

I use Bandicam too, its a grate software!Spook wrote:Don't use Fraps. Use a tool with an integrated encoder. Bandicam for example. Files will be much much smaller with no visible loss of quality. And FPS won't suffer from the encoder aswell. In fact bandicam runs better than Fraps on my machine for some reason
Sadly I had to stop recording because of FPS problems with my new Graphicscard. My GTX680 cannot handle PR+Bandicam on maps like Fallhuja or Ramiel. My old Radeon HD7870 did without problems...
Fraps is s.h.1.t. against Bandicam.
Watching streams, is boring. Besides something epic is going on.
