Operation PR Promotion

Post by Redamare »

It occurred to me that there are many different ways to gain player numbers for Project reality. One of these ways included basic advertisement.

Looking at the vanilla BF2 server lists there are well over 1500 players still playing BF2.

Thinking back at how I Joined Project Reality it came to the simple though of
"I wonder if there are any fun mods I can get for BF2" Saw Project reality, Downloaded it talked to players in game and they were saying how they started playing and never stopped lol .. Its the same way for me now Its Just simply such a substantial improvement upon the BF2 engine.

So again, Thinking of ways to gain new players I was thinking Perhaps for a week or so Project reality members/players could go into every server and simply (BE DERPS) and Semi-Spam Information about Project reality.

Make comments like " Ive been playing this mod called Project Reality its amazing how much better it is than Vanilla BF2 You should check it out" OR " I forgot you cant hear me in 3 dimensional Audio like in Project reality " Things to gain interest. Starting in game conversations about how good this feature is or how amazing that thing is etc.

When it comes down to it Promotion comes down to Knowing. If people don't know about something they wont even think to look into it.

Please give some input to if you believe this sort of tactic would work in the promotion of Project realty or if its just a waste of time.

Thank you for reading,

I didn't approve that in the suggestions forum for a reason :P

Please do not spam on our behalf. This could turn out badly for us.

Feel free to tell your friends, and you can of course post in gaming forums, as long as it's more informative than advertisement. Do not go onto random servers and chatrooms and spam "check out PR!", is what I'd say.

I've been playing a little VBF recently as I'm a bit frustrated with a 250 ping on PR, I mention it if I find myself in a teamwork squad.

Well over 1500 players play PR, consider the fact that 1/10th-1/20th of most players time is spent playing PR and that at any moment there is between 100-600 players online its more like a couple thousand people playing PR. Also a heap more people will join when 1.0 comes out especially old players but also a lot of new players. of course any publicity cant hurt.

Why not make a video and post it to community gaming channels on youtube or ask various youtuber's to give a shout out for the release of 1.0. I know sidestrafe is quite popular and he used to play PR (i think he made a trailer even) and his "crowd" are quite mature. Just pick the right channels to promote it on because some would be much better than others.

Making gameplay videos of real team play on a regular server is going to be the best bet I think. Like DB on youtube, those videos are seen by thousands of people and many in the comment section want to join in on the fun.

I would also advertise the launch on game forums as much as possible, reddit etc...

I think it'd be cool if we had a PR "movie production" crew who would actually work on scripts, recording voices and so on. I mean, watching the v1.0 gameplay, you can make a fucking cool movie with this.

That's the thing, I don't think you need any (semi-)professional production, nor scripts or the like. PR can produce that intense movie-like suspense and action all by itself. It's how I got to it. Somehow I ended up watching one of Bluedrake42's recording of a whole round. I was only out to watch a few short gaming clips then but I ended up watching a 1 1/2 hour round of PR because it was fun and most importantly, really gripping and suspenseful.

I think, what's most important is that the players are welcoming to new guys. After watching that round of gameplay, I dusted off my copy of BF2 and downloaded PR. When I joined my first server, I joined a squad and after saying that I am new to all this, I was promptly invited to learn all there is to learn on running with a mortar squad.

That's what PR needs, patient squad leaders who are willing to pick up a newbie and teach them a thing or two. Promotional material you can send people towards looking at, there is enough, I think.

i always thought a good way to promote PR is to have a forum signature of PR with the website perhaps, and use it on all your other forums that you frequent.

Reached PCGamer, PixelEnemy and some other sites. I think it've done quite well in terms of promotion so far.

Any youtube gaming commentators that you guys want to suggest?

I will try to get ahold of them and promote PR to the best of my ability.

And gj Phil.

If you want to target people in the BF3 community I'd suggest LevelCapGaming he has to be top dog in the BF3 community but if you want a little bit of BF3 and ARMA demographics then Frankieonpcin1080p.
