PR 1.0 - Long Map Load

Now I'm not going to go and say something's wrong, because I don't really know...
And a lot of things have changed since 0.98 so it's perfectly possible that it's just part of that...

But when I'm loading maps, the map load takes something like four minutes. Most of this is loading objects (the first 15% of the loading), which takes about three minutes.

I just want to ensure that this is more or less how it should be, and there's nothing wrong on my end.

If your C: partition is on a HDD, you should try a defrag.

Some of the PR content is packed in very large compressed files. If those files are highly fragmented, it can take much longer to load.

I have the same problem too....

If your C: partition is on a HDD, you should try a defrag.

Some of the PR content is packed in very large compressed files. If those files are highly fragmented, it can take much longer to load.
I will try this. Hopefully it will help to solve the problem..

I want to report that defragging sadly didn't help to solve the problem for me... map-loading times are still very long (seem to "stuck" at 15%)

I hope it worked better for Kothra?!

THIS FIX WORKED FOR ME

How to fix

1.Start a local server
2.Put every map in the map list
3.Fly around the map or drive w/e
4.Switxh to next map
5.DO STEPS 3-4 until u reached final map

It works
Also servers first time running the maps. So expect one week for it to be nice !

I'll try this, but when I had multiple maps earlier on local, only the first one would actually be used at all and the rest were discarded.


Also I'm still defragging (I went to defrag the entire BF2 folder).

This is pretty much how it's going to be mate, BF2 has to look through ALL the files and pick out the ones it wants for that specific map.

So you want US and Russia on a map? It'll check china, gb, ger, fr etc too etc.

Bf2 will load maps faster if it's previously loaded it in another loading cycle, but I don't think that carries over to teh next time you start the program.
