Major Performance Issues

Post by Prevtzer »

Hello,

compared to PR 0.98 my FPS have dropped by half and lowering video settings doesn't seem to do anything. I've played on Kokan skirmish and Khamisiyah AAS std and have been getting 10-25fps which is unplayable for me.

My system specs (they at least meet "recommended" settings from 1.0 manual):

It's better, but still more than 20fps less than in the previous version and therefore unplayable. And again, my setup exceeds the recommended settings.

On Dovre I get an FPS drop from 70 to 20 when I look towards east when I'm in the west part of the map and then crash.

I play on a computer that can run BF3 on all high so I find it really strange, I have the latest driver.

Specs:

Graphics card: GTX 670

RAM: 8192 MB

CPU: i5-3570k

OS: Win7

That fix did not resolve my issue completely, sir!

I Installed 1.0.30.0 > ran Project Reality as admin > played three hours of Saaremaa AAS 100p and one hour of Karbala Insugency 100p but when I enter a Burning Sand Insurgency 100p server my computer goes haywire and is not able to render more than an average of 20fps due to PRLauncher.exe with it's uber high 99% CPU usage.

I've the +3GB RAM fix applied, high-end hardware (HD6970 & i7-2600k) with the latest drivers.

What the heck is going on, sir?

This issue seems to be across the board. If you don't have a 2 or less year old machine, then you're going to get a ridiculous performance hit in game. Many people are having this issue and the patch released today to reduce the CPU usage of the launcher really didn't do much. The issue APPEARS to be in game, not the launcher.

In it's current state, it is un-playable and I know many people who can't play (myself included) unless the game gets re-optimized and fixed.

NOTE: Please don't take my comments here as dislike for the game. I've been playing for the past few years and 1.0 has some of the best gameplay I have experienced yet. These performance issues need to be addressed, that's all I am trying to get across.

Yeah I have the same problems... the CPU usage is super high, the FPS very low and the time loading a map to get into the game seems to be endless.... :(

Even the mod looks really nice and I appreciate the work of the DEVs, this 3 things make the mod actually unplayable... I hope this can get fixed because I really like the mod

Are you guys joining one server, disconnecting then joining another?

For me this also applies by going ingame -> joining the server

(no server-switching in between)

Indeed. This happens on random occasions and when I join new servers with 1.0.30.0 patch applied, sir!

I'm also having performance issues after the update. It's better than before update but still lags frequently, on different servers.

I also took a major performance hit.

Question: What are the forced settings for the new version? Which graphical settings make no difference at all?

I find I get about an extra 10fps by having dynamic lighting set to medium rather than low or OFF. Now, that might be some weird quirk of my drivers on a laptop gpu, (5650), but it doesn't seem normal to me at all.

I'm with fps problems too. The fps get down after on the first minute or less in game. But, if I minimize the game and wait some seconds, when I return to the game the fps starts high, but after walking on the map or some seconds later, the fps drops down again...
I wanna know if there will be a fix soon?!
Congratulations for the game, that 1.0 is amazing!

I've manually set my video.con files to get as low settings as possible and I'm still getting 10-20 less FPS than in previous version plus the game looks really really bad, much worse than 0.98. Something obviously went terribly wrong with optimization.

Code: Select all

VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 1
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 1
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 0
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 0
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 2
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3

Same issues here, I will be decent for a while but then I will get a massive stutter. I never had this problem before, not sure if it was 1.0 because I havn't played in 6+ months. The hotfix didn't appear to help me, its the game itself for me which appears to run at crazy levels.

Thanks for the support PR Dev Team, good game play improvements with this release, now I just wish I had performance back.

My Specs(what matters):
CPU: FX-6100 OC 4.1GHz
GPU: GTX 670 2GB
RAM: 16GB
Running on SSD

Now I've been playing for about 3 hours. I played the Hill (183?) map in the Vietnam era. That map played rather well, about 30-40 FPS. But..... On all the other maps that are about 2km or more are running at 30 and below. I have a huge problem with this, I can't aim properly!

On my second monitor I have MSi Afterburner And SpeedFan 4.49 running.
My GPU was at 30% usage and my CPU would average 35%. Is this an Engine limitation?
A mod issue? I don't know what to do but maybe the devs do!

Looks like I'm not the only one with the problems. I just got a brand new Toshiba Satellite i7 with 16GB of RAM like 2 weeks ago so it's definitely not my computer's problem. Here are my 2 major issues:
1) Quite some lag when there are a lot of people at once on the screen (dunno how much FPS though).
2) Although I set everything to high, including the highest resolution, it feels as if I'm playing on medium-low with the 800x600 resolution.

But that being said, I'm still enjoying the gameplay very much! The lag isn't unhandable (especially after using my old laptop for man years) and lower graphics isn't the end of the world. But an improvement in those 2 fields would definitely make the game much more fun!

Once again, I take my hats off, dear devs. You guys have never failed to deliver.

I've also having performance issues and the load times have increased 4x times when compared to 0.98.

Where do you get that "System Information" list, like in the first post?

Only gripe is the performance issues, everything else is pretty fucking badass.
