Windows 7 issues. Just a heads-up.

Post by wrath_of_grunge »

old BF2 vet here. i've played this game since it came out. i remember when PR was a small mini-mod. anyways, i was pretty excited back when i heard the vietnam mod was coming out. i don't think i ever did get to play it. so i was really excited when i heard this mod coming out.

a few days ago i reinstalled bf2, and played a few games. last night i preloaded the mod and waited on the pass. when i went to the website today, the pass wouldn't work. i copy-pasted, and manually tried it. after that i came to the forums to see if anyone else reported it. i found a second mention of the pass, this time copy-pasting did the trick (i tried the other SEVERAL times).

so i got the mod installed, retrieved my account, and tried for several hours to get it working. i've read over people's issues and tried several different things to try to fix the mod. but my patience has it's limits. i imagine if i'm having this kind of trouble, others are too.

that doesn't bode well for the mod. i'm sorry that the launch didn't go off as smoothly as it could've. i'm also sorry that many people won't be able to try the mod, since i imagine most will fiddle with trying to get it to run and give up to go play something else, which is what i'm about to do.

the mod looked fantastic, the vids were nice, the website nice, launching the mod with a torrent was nice, i just can't get the damn thing to work. i had a few extra copies of BF2 kicking around and was going to burn a copy or two of the mod to give to my friends, but sadly, now i have to report back that the mod didn't work despite the 6 GB's of data i downloaded.

oh well, i hope you guys find sucsess, maybe i'll try the mod in another 6 months or so.

for the record here's what i had going on:

Core2Duo 2GHz
4GB RAM
GTX260m 1GB
Win7 64-bit
Origin copy of BF2 complete
Mounted the .iso with Daemon Tools

Upon launch game goes to black screen. I have tried running the game in a window, different resolutions. Deleted the profiles folder and re-imported everything, several times. BF2 continues to function normally.
