Getting Sick of Server Map Voting

I love that many community servers give us players the ability to vote the next map but I'm starting to get sick of playing Kokan, Fallujah or the other same ole maps ( Forgot Muttah) people vote for. Sure i enjoy playing them a lot but still i enjoy playing maps in rotation instead of voting for them all the time so we can get to play those many maps we don't see in a while. Just my opinion

Yes there good, but overplayed.

Wouldn't you be bored playing Fallujah over, and over, and over again?

Honestly, a huge re-amp of those 4 maps would be sexy.

If I were to play Fallujah West or Kokan 24/7 maybe but that have never happened, sir!

The only problem is that mostly all servers are run by clans. And these clans prefer to play the same maps with the same spots so they will not look like n00bs on the new/rarely played maps.

There should be some official servers with no mapvote, IMO..

My thought on this is that soldiers in the military don't get to pick where they're deployed to. They go where they're told to go. If their firebase sucks ***, they have to deal with it because that's where the military put it. If the map is one sided they have to deal with it because that's how it happened to set up.

well, this is a video game, not real life. i would like to choose what map i would like to play. out of 40 maps, the same 5 or 6 are played over and over. fallujah, muttrah, kashan, silent eagle, kokan are played waaaaay to much. i think servers need a break from them

=]H[= decided to implement open forum thread where ppl. can put in their map rotation wish list. if selected we run the list for couple of days. no map votes.

we did it mainly because of the low vote turnout and suspected server instability when map votes are used, but also for those "rare" maps to be played.

Play BigD server. I have been playing it for some time now and I rarely see a map vote, even with Admins. Finally get to experience different maps!

Regarding maps, from a server administrators POV. No matter what you do or how you do it, people will always get pissed off about it and create threads like this.

It is impossible to please everyone.

The only map pissing me off is Kashan Desert (0.981) but that's another discussion, sir!

I think people like to play Fallujah, Kokan and even Muttrah because they are easy to play and have some good advantages than other maps : daylight, open fields, multiple cover like building etc..

Maps like Silent eagle are going to be a pain for inf with 1.0.

Thats a server issue and best option is don't play in servers that do that. Play in a real man's man server where admins know which map to play.

Entirely true. PR is great, just people like the same stuff. Over and over...

+1 Generally though, Admins tend to choose maps that are not of the ones stated in the first post after it becomes obvious of this "loop".

well it seems like Hardcore server is running a playlist rotation am not for sure but when i was last playing on there just map by map i really enjoy it alot not people arguing over which map to pick or vote for the same ol same

So for player that rather prefer that join Hardcore's server

I've run many different servers and unless the game has one map only you'll always find this.

The map voting plugin is a must on every server with a rotation purely because of as you say, the popular maps.

However consider this, yes some of the other maps are brilliant but if the majority don't like it.. they will just leave so while you may get to play the map you want, you might well be doing it in a smaller group!

I wonder if its worth setting up a lesser played maps server to gauge interest?

Simple solution would be for the admin who set up the map vote do not include the standard popular maps. Put up 3 not played so much maps.

Now is the best time to run new maps or not so popular maps as there isn't as much of a fight for players across the community with the influx of players for 1.0. So do your map vote to give choice but don't give the choice of popular maps.
