CTD immediately after selecting server

May not be a crash as such as a windows briefly appears saying something about cleaning up assets then the desktop appears.

Started with all settings to max, first load attempt failed due to the windows firewall box appearing, thereby crashing the game.

Restarted game, go to server selection, selected a 100player server, double click, blank screen, brief message then plain old desktop.

Restarted with crossfire off, eyefinity off, and all settings to low/med. Exact same problem.

This is my first time playing this mod so im not really sure about too much else.

I get this as well, but I find that only on some servers.

It was there in 0.98 but only on Hardcore server, now for me it is merk. [NEW] loaded first time no issues, likewise NWA. I disconnected and went to Merk server, got the BF2 has stopped working messages followed by the cleanup message.

This happens only on Merk at the moment, though I have only tried a few others. Definitely server-specific. Doesn't even start loading the map

my VS 2012 debugger is saying that the call stack is topped in ntdll.dll, if it helps. Personally I have NO idea!

did uninstall, reinistall, rebooting each time

crashed trying to join Warplayer Stammtisch server

VS 2012 just in time debugger reports:

Unhandled exception at 0x64616548 in PRBF2.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x64616548.

Continuing to test various servers

Still seems to be server specific.

PR works, but if I try to join certain servers (like my own MeRk server , for example) it just says BF2.exe has stopped working.

I don't get why it is just some servers, and always the same ones. I can load up on others just fine
