That and fire control would be nice =/

TR ballistics and sniping - YouTube
That's on the BF2142 engine which has weapon sway as part of it which featured on its own sniper rifles etc.... :roll:

Also before you suggest it we can't switch to the BF2142 engine without loosing the ability to use lots and lots of vBF2 stuff that we still use (statics, trees, undergrowth, vehicles, weapons etc) which pretty much means we have to get rid of every single map we have ever made since all feature vBF2 static objects, and we would loose a massive portion of our player base as most of them don't have BF2142 and many players, especially new and possible returning players wouldn't buy it just to play PR.

lol Rhino I know haha
I've cried myself to sleep many nights over mosquill's TR stuff
I'm just saying, people also said ballistics were impossible =P ;D
I'm kindof just wishfully thinking haha

But FH2 has weapon sway and they run off vBf2. All their guns have weapon sway, even snipers, unless they are in deployed mode.

Thanks to WarEagle751 for the Signature pic!

the sway still doesn't have any relation to where the bullet actually goes, its just an animation. BF2 can't do it, only BF2142 can.

If there is an option to reduce tracers friction to match the bullets, then you could set accurate and different speeds.

IMO the point of ballistics are also different muzzlevelocities, and if everything is running at 1500, then its kinda meg.

I worked on getting this work with every bullet speed. For this i had to go back to accelerating the bullets as i couldnt find a way to slow them down by a constant.
For this i found out that:
-tracers go 25% slower than normal bullets when mixed
-acceleration gets applied 30times a second (on local AND dedicated)
So the acceleration needs to be calculated as
acceleration = velocity * 0.25 * 30
and the max speed needs to be lower than the velocity otherwise both tracers and normal bullets get sped up.
This is how it looks for L85A2 with velocity of 980m/s:
a = 980 * 0.25 * 30 = 7350

Code: Select all

ObjectTemplate.MaxSpeed 979
ObjectTemplate.acceleration 7350
Tested it on local and dedicated. Only problem remaining is that you need bullets for each speed.

HOLLY FUCKING JESUS CHRIST OMG. I don't even understand how it works. But if it works it's the great moment for PR.

Since the last question about "when it will be integrated" wasn't answered, i guess we have to wait and see.

we should have this by now =P
think about it, finally we can set ranges not just for grenadiers and lats, but rifles as well!
just like in red orchestra 2 =D

Now all we need is proper weapon sway and we're in business

It is in 1.2 atleast for a few weapons:
Fixed coaxial MG tracers to have same bullet drop as non tracers.
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f604-p ... gelog.html

Will look into adding it to more weapons. The fix it self is rather easy done, but making sure optics work properly is quite some work. Let alone making ironsights adjustable. So most likely it will be added to more MGs next and only increase the bullet drop slighty.
