Constant BSOD; probable issue with audio settings and launcher

Try installing PAX if it does not work go for the Creative drivers again. Change drivers until it works. It seems that those problems are getting fixed randomly by an act of nature beyond our control or something lol...

None. There's a "Creative X-Fi" option for a reason.

Anyway, what model are all of you using? I have the Titanium HD and never had any BSOD issues, while everybody with Titanium needs to install PAX drivers to make it work.

That option could be there because I have a Creative Labs card. Installing another card could give me an option with the name of the other card.

Anyways, if Creative Labs is really the only manufacturer producing cards with EAX sound quality I know where a lot of money can be made

By the way, what about Auzentech cards? Seems like they are using SB hardware but perhaps develop better drivers.

No, "Creative X-Fi" option is there because only cards with EMU20k (most of the X-Fi cards) sound chip have the advanced positioning algorithms that Battlefield 2 supports and that option unlocks them (true binaural sound instead of 5.1).

If you're only looking for EAX then you can just take your sound card out of the computer because pretty much every integrated sound card these days supports it. The difference is that Creative only allowed for EAX 2.0 (32 stim. voices, occlusion, reverb) to be used for other manufactures, while EMU20k cards have EAX 5.0 (128 stim. voices, occlusion, reverb, and some other extensions).

If you're looking to buy a new card then just go for the Titanium HD. For hardware accelerated games it's still by far the best sound card there is. Also, no BSOD or other issues.

I have the titanium one. I had to install PAX drivers to make it work and it has been working great up untill the release of pr 1.0.30.0. after that patch I get bsod as soon as I enter squad selection screen

I'm a bit curious as to what drivers you were running before.

I have a PCI X-Fi and have not been able to find a set of drivers that allowed X-Fi/Ultra High audio that didn't immediately start corrupting audio (i.e. screeches, clicks and garbled noise).

Much better components overall, the price difference of roughly 100? is quiet justified.

I have the same problem with BSOD (portcls.sys) using any audio settings (Win 7, Titanium Fatal1ty Pro, PAX Driver Suite 2013 V1.05).
But I just decided to launch PR again and the problem is gone. I do not know those things are related or not I reinstalled DirectX.

Nonetheless I found it - PRMumble. It seemed to me the problem was gone, but another one appeared. I could not talk to anyone and I did not hear anymore. I restarted PR several times nothing happened. Then I paid attention to the symbol in the lower right corner. I decided to check the settings of firewall because it was reinstalled. PRMumble was blocked so the rule was verified. I launch PR and going to play - BSOD. I launch PR again - BSOD. But after blocking of PRMumble once more the problem is gone, realy.

Ok I have bought the XFI Titanium HD card and I've installed the drivers you'd sent me. I don't get the BSODs now when entering the game, but now they occur when the server changes map. When checking the dump it says the ntoskrnl.exe is the culprit.

Had a BSOD again when joining a server, i BSOD'd after I joined and right at the moment where all the dead bodies and wrecks do the explosion and die sound. You know what I mean, just before the kit selection pops up every wreckage blows up at the same time for your client once.

I then installed your drivers, it even worked. It found my card and installed the drivers. I then joined the same server on the same round again and right when those explosion/die sounds appeared, I BSOD'd again. So no cure with your drivers for me. IT was the first time I BSOD'd because of the "join-sounds", usually I BSOD right when I enter the game, or when I minimize PR and open a youtube video for example.

I have absolutely no idea what's wrong then. Looks like I'm just lucky, but I really never had a BSOD because of anything related to PR/ Creative.

There's more people with similar setups not getting BSOD's though.

Try to make a simple check, maybe you have a problem like mine.
Launch PR without PRMumble for example rename the folder with PRMumble (...\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin).

btw I doubt mumble has anything to do with this, but who cares I'll give it a try...
