Lack of teamwork

Post by Sleeper68 »

Since the release I've seen a huge drop in the amount of teamwork. Even in the Beta there was about a 90% chance that I'd jump in a game and find that all the squads were working together even without a commander present. Now when I jump in a game I find everyone, even the ones in squads, lone-wolfing with at least one squad, sometimes none, desperately trying to get the job done with no support. Often times when there are multiple squads that are sticking together in their squads they tend to be out for kills and nothing more. When is the teamwork coming back.

People are trying the new stuff and MOSTLY it's confusing because there is a shitload of new and returning players.

Let some weeks go and PR should be back to normal teamwork, once the newbies clear out or learn.

Played commander the other game halfway through the round. It was originally pretty even but once I entered the commander roll I organised CAS and objectives for squads (defending and attacking). Needless to say, we totally dominated that round. Of course, you need good willing squad leaders which I was fortunate enough to experience that round.

You just need someone to step up to commander position and even if they aren't good at it (first time I ever commanded) it helps your team out ****-loads and increases the teamwork tenfold as squads start to communicate to you and other squads.

Although I have to agree. Without a commander, the team is usually a bunch of headless chickens, each either running off on a secret mission 1KM from the objective, or everybody rushing to attack leaving the flags undefended.

I think its just as shit as it was in the previous version, with the few exceprions of TG and a couple of other servers here and there. Its all about enforcement.

You must've picked the short straw or something because every time ive played there has been very good teamwork and communication, and it can only get better, so nothing to worry about.

The only problem I have against this new players is that when they lead a squad they do it just to have a squad like in Battlefield 3 were you would join and not talk, don't communicate and this usually causes everybody to go their separate way and it ends up with people lone wolving objectives. They don't understand that when you create a squad you're actually suppose to lead it and when you tell them that in game. The get scared under the pressure and they end up leaving, putting another guy in charge. Which the problems seems to repeat itself until the squad is completely disband or someone steps up to the plate to lead them in the right direction.

When you make it come back. Making forum posts doesn't solve teamwork issues, going in game and dragging people into teamwork based play (through your own squad leading, commanding, or excellent squad member teamwork) is the only way it gets done.

^This. I never used to squad lead but I have to now to help introduce people. I know I suck as a SL compared to some of the other people that play and I don't know most of the maps extremely well but poor guidance is better than no guidance at all. I can at least get people started on keeping in cover, covering each other, keep checking behind you and so on.

New ppl are flooding into the major server.
Yes. quiet upset, teamwork's even worse.
But, to make a differences.
Why not try help new guys? Just as Lito did. make a squad named 'New guys', then help them.
Or, if u dont want to train them, try play with ur friends, and be a real model.
Jolly, you such a retard.

I had some really good teamwork rounds already, namely on NEW and QRF. Squadleaders communicating, Commander providing intel and all that.

But it's true, it takes some time until we get back to the original amount of teamplay. Give it some time and it will fix itself.

1. Enforce teamwork. SL should be responsible for his squad.
2. Warn and kick for not being in squad.
3. Kick or resign "free kits" squads.
4. ????
5. Profit!

After some time all new players who still want to play organized will be in good squads with good SL's. Everyone who not can be sent into DayZ.

Right after making this thread I ended up taking command of a squad myself and did what i could but got disconnected due to network issues. Couldn't get back in due to it being full ended up joining another server. Turned out to be a pretty good one for teamwork but I was late to the game so I played lone smurf and stuck with my team where ever the fighting was thickest and did ammo runs for anyone who needed it. Next game on Kashan as MEC I joined a squad. We were just gonna **** around and bayonet charge North Bunker. When we got there we found a few dead Americans and what ever assets they had there destroyed. Ended up capping and hold the bunker for more than an hour with the last half hour of that time under siege. Just as we were moving in to retake it the game ended. One of the best rounds I've had since release.

It is like if you go to a party and you expect to have fun.... but your not contributing to the fun.... then you effectively helped to kill the party unless if there is a few talented comedians present.

PR 1.0 has the best tools ever to make it a good game but a lot of players join the game and expect to be entertained, instead of creating the entertainment themselves.
It often takes several tries to drag a random person out of his glass jar by keep trying to communicate with him, but when you succeed the game turn for the better.

Bring something to the table and don't give up right away. Motivate the guy next to you and take it from there, eventually more players will see the light.

Also don't forget you can even motivate your squad-leader if you don't want to do it yourself and you think the one you have is being too passive.

The only issues Ive had is some squadleaders not having their mumble working. or a CAS sl going afk. Made my blood boil. But we won the round.

I will always welcome an NCO in the squad watching squad member placement, assuring arcs that kind of stuff.

I think there is no excuse in saying that mumble crashes or something wont work. Yesterday I was playing with my can, we had total of 8 members in squad. We defended flag, we lost it, we attacked it, we took it, we defended and lost it again... and I just said "WTF?! this feels like we are the only squad playing" and after looking at map I saw that my thought were not far off. We and some newbie squad were the only ones that were doing some thing that had sense. out of 49 players only about 2 were doing what they suppose to do. I am not new to this game (3 years of Squad Leading) and I understand that there are squads that are waiting for assets, bringing supplies etc. but that didnt happend yesterday. To keep enemy out we had to blind fire in almost every direction... Supplies never came and neither reinforcements...
So SL's watch the map and fit the gaps - if none is defending that means you should!

Had some good rounds these day but overall teamworks lacks sometimes but are you suprised? The game is different and harder now, many new people or veterans that played ages ago and a few bugs like the "stuckinthelobby" bug that force people to deal with it or restart the game. It will take some time to sort things out.

What server was that?

The only reason I don't try things like commander is because I have no idea what to expect except a lot of "omg shit commander". :-|
