Hello Everyone,
Since PR 1.0 we now have a launcher which checks if you need an update or not. Updates come out almost daily (which is good and awesome!) but has a downside when it comes to play on your favorite server which is not updated. Recently I updated to version 1.0.34 and the server was still 1.0.33. The server admins were very busy and did not had the time yet to update it. Logically I could not log in to the server, because of the version mismatch. So I thought, next time: First check server version on PRspy and cancel the client update if it's newer then the server.
Now I heard that players who skips the update are being blocked from accessing an outdated server. Is this true? Is there a way to access the server without having to wait until it's being updated? please don't say I have to play PR the whole day without restarting the game, I figured that out myself.

Re: PR 1.0 update question
sorry, I forgot to add the Thread prefix for PR 1.0. Don't know how I can edit it.

Re: PR 1.0 update question
This is the way bf2 works, if the player and the server aren't using the exact same version of the game you will simply be unable to load in. This is why BF2 uses a version check for it's servers and unless you have the same version you won't be able to see it in the server list or join it.
And tbh that's not really a negative argument when it comes to the updater. These days there is almost a daily update yes, but in the future this won't be the case I think. And there are enough other servers too

Re: PR 1.0 update question
@MineralWouter: Thank you for you're reply but that does not answer my question. You say if the version of the client and the server does not match you won't be able to load in. Well, I understand that but I think you misunderstood my question.
Ill try and explain the situation: I see the server is running on an outdated version, like say 1.0.33. I also have 1.0.33 and the updater asks me if I want to install 1.0.34. I think, I just skip the update so I can join in on the server which runs 1.0.33. But it seems it won't let you, it just blocks access to the all the servers that are not updated to the most recent version.
I know there are a lot of servers around and the future will be less frequent updates. But I live in the present day and do not want to connect to other servers at this time

I know our techs are making a point to get in the updates on the server asap. Had a few times they reset the server for one.

Indeed, however it's not polite if you're half-way through a game, and the admin forces a restart, wait for it to end.Rissien wrote:I know our techs are making a point to get in the updates on the server asap. Had a few times they reset the server for one.
