Cannot bind "Tab" and "F" keys

Hi everyone, CT here. I'm new to the PR crew.

So I'm trying to rebind Tab to something besides the scoreboard and the F key to the Squad Map. but it will not let me do it

This might be a problem with BF2, since I've had this problem with a few games in the past where the devs hardcode the tab and F key, so they won't let you rebind them without waiting for a workaround from the community.

Please tell me you can help me. My "F" and "Tab" keys are vital ;_; ;_; ;_;

P.S.: I ran a search and didn't find my problem on Google or the forums. If this is a dup, please link the other thread so I can learn of the solution.

Edit: I made some big changes to my keyboard bindings and I also found my old mouse which has the 2 side buttons I can use too. Weeeee, thanks PR!

Wow, um, I kinda expected a bit more replies on this. I mean, this is really something that should be looked into, or at least mentioned somewhere on the Installation guide. Unless all of you knew about this already.

I think it's hardcoded (at least the TAB one).... but i'm no IT major....

Yeah probably I always try to rebind Tab and F for all my FPS games too.

You have to delete the original binding first.

I changed Scoreboard from TAB to ~. I also removed F completely from my control settings (use it for TeamSpeak).

Maybe you need to delete your profile folders in Users/Battlefield2 or Project Reality? And try after this?

Erm..Did you try this step-by-step?

1. Press Left Mouse Button (LMB) on the key you want to change in-game Controlls Settings.
2. Press Escape (ESC) button to erase it.
3. Press Left Mouse Button on the now empty key area.
4. Press the key you want to be responsible for the executing the command.
5. MOST IMPORTANT: When finished press APPLY on the left side. Otherwise your new key binding will not be saved.

I want to replace the default bindings for F and Tab to something else in-game. It won't let me do that and I've followed your instructions as well every time.
