Does anyone have grunt tasks for someone totally new to do?
New factions are always awesome, and I definitely want to see more of them. I'd certainly like to help out with the process of creating them, but I'm just starting school, and I haven't gotten to the computer science courses yet, so I rank as a complete and total amateur. If somebody has grunt work laying around I can do it. Do you guys have such stuff laying around?

just take a look around the modding forums. The PR addons like Normandy and the Falklands have a lot of tasks that still need to be done. Just look and see what you think you can tackle

I haven't found anything I know how to do yet, but I'll keep looking.

Well as a beginner your very unlikely to find anything you know about
What I suggest is you first decide what area interests you the most. Is it making the 3D Models for the new weapons or vehicles, is it making the textures by giving them colour and detail though painting onto them though photoshop, is it making new maps for the game, is it doing animations like making a guy reload a weapon, is it making new sounds for the weapons, is it tweaking the vehicle code to change how much ammo a rifle or tank has, how fast it moves etc or it could even be gamemode coding though python, changing working on things like the kit request system or making brand new game modes even to go along side AAS, Insurgency etc.
If you need more info on any of the areas if that will help you decide but once you've decided what interests you the most then its a matter of reading up tutorials on that area and having a shot at a simple project once you've done a few
