add more delay between jump and lie down will make you think two times before you jump and shoot.

You can't jump and shoot though.... but you can dodge bullets in a weird way.

Exactly: You cant jump and shoot so why punish people for jumping over obstacles?

The current stamina system is fine and promotes proper use of cover.
Yes, it is annoying in some situations where you need to jump multiple times but then again, usually this is neccessary when you "climb" over large obstacles - something that is exhausting with 30kg+ of gear.

I'd rather have some of these annoying moments than firefights with enemies that look like bouncy balls.
epicelite wrote:You can still jump with 0 stamina so how does this prevent bunny hopping?
There is a difference between jumping while sprinting and jumping while walking or standing. It's just not an effective evasive maneuver if you don't make large leaps.

You can only sprint and jump one time effectively due to the seizure it causes.

Yes, that's the intention behind it.

So then why does it take away all of my stamina too?

Thats the way it works.

Jumping costs stamina ( afaik like 30%)
No jumping without stamina
No sprinting after jumping

You can jump with no stamina though, and you can continue to walk at the normal walking speed at the same time. Go try it. Try to run and jump, you can do it once and then you have to stop running because your having a seizure which will happen nomatter how much stamina you have remaining after jumping.

I was wrong, you can jump. But like hurricane said: jumping while standing is not the "bunny hopper" problem. the problem are people who run away and jump a few times

You can't do that though because running and jumping are only possible on the first time unless you have several seconds to stand around and let the seizure stop. Otherwise all you can do is jump and walk, which you can do now if you wanted anyway.

That this does more to punish players doing what is required to move around the game then it does bunny hoppers.

Jumping simulates stepping over and climbing. If a soldier must climb a hill it is not easy with 30kg gear, so its quite realistic that you have o stamina left after "climbing" in PR

Stepping over is another story, it costs to much stamina in PR but is not that hard irl. There is room for improvment of the current system.

But i dont see a change that jumping will cost no or much less stamina because you need it to prevent bunny hopping, but a better solution for the step-over problem would be nice.

I dunno, but if you could get 1 jump for free and then you're on a timer for the next 30 seconds or something at which point the next jump hits you with the stamina penalty it could work.

I think the stamina penalty is instrumental to avoid people bunnyjumping when getting into firefights... Though I had a solid laugh once, playing as civ and jumping over a small wall, I was avoiding 3-4 marines for 5 minutes until they called on some one with a shotgun...

I'm going to have to disagree with this argument. You train in most forces for multiple mile lon runs in full gear, the royal marines do a 30mile fullly geared run as part of their final training and they're a conventional force, not special forces.

Climbing over a crate and sprinting afterwards shouldn't be an issue for any fit soldier. As long as jumping+sprinting isn't possible there's no reason that jumping on a crate or over a 2 foot wall should prevent sprinting immediately afterwards.

The question the devs are probably asking themselves is whether or not they want to make the aggressive squads which rely on speed and fast effective close quarter combat even faster and more effective. Terrain has a significant effect on the pace of the game, having to run around something rather than jumping it adds 5-10 seconds of time to a squad's speed, this is in fact fairly important when shit hits the fan, 10 seconds can be the difference between a defender realising you're there and not.

I'd probably sit firmly on the side of caution with a change like this. It could have a large balance effect on many maps dependent on whether a team has a squad with an aggressive infantry playstyle or not.

I suggest getting out and try to "run/jump" over some walls and then tell me again that it costs you no effort/streght to do that.
