So this game started out pretty standard. Pavlosk bay, either you take the boats or the helicopters. Boats this time. Get to the flag, cap it. I was assigned the light anti tank kit, or rather I called it when the round started I can't remember. The AT4, I am familiar with this weapon.
So our squad is ordered to sweep the forest on the other side and proceed to the next objective. Taking out a fob. Excellent. In the town we hit up some contact. At first they could be overcome by supreme firepower. But reinforcements arrived which included a BTR. We were basically overrun by enemies but I decided I should at least take down the APC with me. I bring out my trusty AT4 and hit the APC right in it's side.
It didn't die and we all got killed.
Spawning in on the US carrier, we were told to take the same kits as before. I was feeling pretty confident after hitting the BTR earlier and asked for a heavy anti tank. Granted.
I did the normal, left click selection expecting the usual SRAW. Oh how wrong I was. This was newly introduced SMAW unguided anti tank. I have never held this kit before. I couldn't check it out too much since we were on a mission remember? We got in the osprey, landed and set up a FOB.
So now I got some time to check this out real quick. Checking out the back up sights. Different missiles(?), range finder. And that's it, we were good to go. And there's an APC in the area. Oh shit. Will I fuck this up? If I don't get the APC the whole squad will think I don't know the game. How hard is it firing a HAT?
But I set up, wait for deviation(which, by the way I had no idea how long it was) and fire. Hit. APC down. Phew. Ok, I guess I'm not too bad at this game then. But wait! There's an AAV spotted in our vicinity! Alright time to shine once again! I go around and try to get a shot at the AAV when I see a more dangerous target. Another APC across the bay. I quickly change my sights to it and fire.
Now, I absolutely no clue what the drop rate on this thing was. I assumed it was like an AT4. Boy, how wrong I was. It didn't help either that I had the range finder selected and just fired a tracer round. Most of us got killed.
And there you have it. Confessions of an inexperienced anti-tank guy. Not long after this I took some time and checked out all the kits in local of course.
Oh there's a video by the way.
And here's the video of the buildup to this situation.
Thanks Gazzthompson for some excellent squad leading as usual.
Feedback on both the AAR and videos are appreciated.
