Hey,
First, installation (win7) went well, the installation guide worked and I got in without any problems.
First game: Ran around a lot but no one was talking on that server or I wasn't close enough to hear anyone. Got KIA multiple times but was mostly learning the terrain and key commands. Did not join squad since I was mostly interested in simply moving around and getting used to the interfaces.
Second game: Got into a squad and followed the team trying to keep back to see what they were doing. Went well, got KIA multiple times, but enjoyed the experience.
Third game: Joined squad, skirmish, found the SL and introduced myself as noob. He was pretty funny and clearly reluctant to have me tag along but he got into it after a while and was mentor. Enjoyed it immensely. He taught me to jump over walls, and a number of other basic things and I learned. His name was korosov8 or something like that. My thanks to him for the help.
I read the manual initially but it was too much to take in. I printed key control commands, mumble information, and now have about half printed. I enjoyed your tutorial on communications very much and found it be one of the best I've seen. I've already copied the link to my friends for them to use.
The only thing I don't like is the lack of the crouch toggle button. I don't get that but after reading several threads on it, there doesn't seem to be a good answer for it except for the autohotkey script but no one has said if it works or not. I just read that today.
Good game and I look forward to many more in the coming months.

Welcome to the PR. Glad you had a good experience and I'm very pleased to hear that you met a player, who was willing to show you the robes. My thanks to him as well because. Unfortunately not everyone are willing to have a noob tag along.
Personally i don't have an issue with the crouch system although I see why it could be annoying if you need to wait a longer period of time in crouched position. I don't see why Autohotkey shouldn't work though.. unless Punkbuster will kick you for it.

Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

There's a solution for this:Westr7 wrote: The only thing I don't like is the lack of the crouch toggle button. Re: New Player on board
I was with my squad and we were defending a position in a building with windows. Everybody was crouched at the windows but the only way I could was by holding down that key and mistakenly believed that they must know a trick to keep from holding it down for more than 10 minutes. I then checked the various threads and found that you either hold it or you mess with some other program. I suspect I can get used to it....

Well laying down doesnt require you to hold down any key.Westr7 wrote:I was with my squad and we were defending a position in a building with windows. He was clearly talking about windows. Good luck looking through windows while prone^^
You'll get used to it. If not, there's some script thingies, as you said, but I never used them.

I switched my jump and crouch buttons in the control settings. This way, I use Left Control for Jump and space bar for crouch. Holding down the space bar for long periods of time with your thumb is much easier than holding down the L Ctrl with your pinky.
