"7: Unable to find Battlefield 2 installation"

Post by [at]Vio-Lence »

The error reads "7: Unable to find Battlefield 2 installation. Please make sure Battlefield 2 is installed and installation has been finalized."
It occurs when I am using the PRLauncher.exe to load PR.

My OS is Win 8.

I am sort of thinking this has to do with the fact I copied BF2 from my old laptop to the new one I just got.

Hi AncientMan,

I tried re-installing again, but at the step in the installation where I choose a destination to install PR (Navigating to the Battlefield 2 folder on my C drive) the same type of error comes up.

"Cannot confirm Battlefield 2 v1.5 has been installed"

Edit:

I searched that exact error on the forums and have found acouple threads dealing with a similar error.

You cannot simply "move" a whole BF installation (at least not BF2), registry gets f****d up, you need to uninstall n reinstall...

Encountered a new error now. I can connect to local servers, but when I join a multiplayer server, the game CTD upon double clicking to select one.

Going to see if there are any recent threads for a possible fix. If not, i'll just wait until I can find my old BF2 cd's and do a full re-install haha.

" i'll just wait until I can find my old BF2 cd's and do a full re-install"
you HAVE TO DO THIS.
there is no other free way to get this done.

You can buy a program called PCMover to move applications from windows vista/7 to windows 8, but it costs like US$40. cheaper to dig out the old BF2 CDs.
