I want everyone reading this to know we're dealing with various problems on one thread, some of them very specific to the individual setup, some of them with commonalities such as everyone with a certain type of Comcast ISP traffic monitoring causing disconnects across a wide variety of online fast paced games, and some hardware issues like the European Fritz Box modem/routers, etc.

I hear the first time, that there might be hardware issues with the Fritzbox.
Do you have more information about this?

I am going to post some thread on Comcast's forum about this...

It sounds like to me that us Comcast Users can't play any online game!

Has anyone tried Playing vBF2? Or any other online game?

well i spent all day trying to solve this issue for me....

did a full reinstall after a complete uninstall (deleting folders in program files and my documents)

update of video drivers and roll back of video drivers.

messed with audio from software to hardware and from low quality to high

did the punkbuster fix here on post #3

and nothing seemed to work...then i did the pin button restart on my router and that may have fixed it.

p.s. also my router was on my cable set top box and could of been possibly over heating so i moved it as well as took the cable wire out of the cable box....

to late to see for sure.....i will try tomorrow again if i have time.

part of me wants to think its mumble and when i start talking on SL chat or to the commander and talking a lot to my sqd is usually when i get disconnected. i have noticed when i "lone wolf it" i stay in-game a lot longer. i want to say maybe there is some weird thing happening with the buttons i use to communicate with....i use cap-locks for sqd and A for local...it seems when i am pressing cap-locks often i get disconnected... i will test switching up the buttons if the problem persists.

i need sleep now.....
after sleeping i played 2 full rounds on hog.. ramiel and gaza but i lone wolfed it the whole time pretty much....

Can you play tomorrow or something? See if you can play a few rounds non-stop. (other then server crashes! )

i played all freaking day today on cia server..only ate lunch...no crash....so i think i am good to go now.
im with grande communications...local only to parts of texas i believe.

so maybe my set top box was to blame or my router was over heating.....i dont really know

to update: so i played pr all fucking day saturday so that lead me to believe resetting my router was the fix. so i hook up my cable box cuz i want to watch some HD today....well i get tired of tv so i flip on some pr and bam! im getting disconnected every 20 minutes or so..happened on tg server...then hog right after..im like WTF? so i unhook my cable box and rejoin hog and played 3 full rounds (2+hrs).....

so my conclusion is that my cable set top box is some how causing me to be disconnected......

so everyone.....unhook ur cable boxes and force ur family to watch regular tv while u play pr...lol...seriously though...do it.

But this could be a fix for YOU. But I will attempt this to see if us Comcast users might have a potential fix.
But the thing I have with this.... You could damage your cable wire going to your cable box...

Hey, I can be of use here,
I personally experienced this with my entire internet slowing to a crawl when I put my set top box on,

You need to call your ISP/cable company, they'll need to run line tests.

They want to increase/decrease/stabilize the signal strength from the street to your router/gateway, they also might need to put a small signal restrictor adaptor between your modem/gateway's tv cable out and the cable to your settop box.

possible problems:
1. not enough signal strength from the street to your house
2. not enough signal strength from the point your cable tv lines touches your house until it reaches the modem/gateway (i.e. old cable wire inside and/or outside the house)

3. signal strength is too strong, or not steady enough,
4. signal strength is not grounded inside the house, the restrictors will isolate the different branches of your tv/internet wiring, and maintain optimal signal strength level/quality.


TL;DR: call ISP, ask for line tests and a service call.

Hmm..
I got Comcast Feburary 7th.

They put all new wires.

Plus, my modem gateway isn't connected to my Cable box.

What is a set top box btw?


But maybe they need a 'Booster'.
But of course, they love sending someone out for 2hrs and you have to pay $34.00 for them!

Please do this someone other then me. I think I might have a solution to this infamous issue.

Launch PR and Teamspeak
Join PR server
Join the TEAMSPEAK server of the server in PR you are playing. (I highly recommend playing on the servers that have the teamspeak IP advertising ingame)
See if it disconnects or not.


Please, Please, someone do this. I already did this, it seemed like I played a few rounds good.

ok, to simplify things...

all i did was unscrew the coaxial cable (wire coming from wall ie cable outlet) from my DVR box (the box that allows you to record tv shows and view them in high def) and i unplug the power cord as well.... now i dont get disconnected every 20 min like when it was plugged in. i live in an old crappy apt complex and i dont feel the need to make a big deal out of it since i live alone. i just thought maybe if others try unplugging their dvr cable boxes temporarily of course...they could play pr problem free....

i dont have a triple play....just tv and internet, but i guess it's similar....tv and internet through the same company.

so i would say...when u have the time...unplug the dvr boxes in the household and test out pr and see if it still disconnects you....

i dont understand why this happens just on pr...i went and played arma2 wasteland for several hours without interruption with my dvr hooked up....

so guys...give it a shot and see what happens.

sidenote: i did just move in and ordered new service so maybe my cable box does updates or operates while im not viewing television but that could be just my reason for these simple connection lost issues.

oh and matt...i use to be a cable installation tech. and simply unscrewing the coax cable from the dvr box wont hurt anything...just make sure to unplug the power cord first...but if u dont, it shouldnt hurt anything anyways...

Can you test what I posted?

Do not unplug cable box at all.... just play PR as normally would with Disconnects.

Download Teamspeak, what I recommend doing.
Join the PRTA Teamspeak... ts.prta.co
Don't change channel in the server of teamspeak... just leave as is.

Join PR server (what ever your choice is)
See if you disconnect


And Is there anyway to have a wired connection and wireless at the same time? To improve stablility?? I have a ethernet Power Adapter (It goes throughy your electrical wireing) It's slow AF but it's stable, but I got my WiFi stick, much faster. Is there anyway to have just both of them do the job? But have the speed of the wifi stick?

I tried the running Teamspeak and it worked for one whole round, but then went back to disconnecting after 20 mins :/
