The stamina penalty was put into place to reduce the amount of BF2 Vanilla bunny hopping, which is paramount to glitching.

No, it's not a sadistic joke that the DEVs implemented. Try dealing with bunny hoppers in BF2 first then come back.

I'm going to have to disagree with this argument. ;)

The 30miler is actually a 8 hour march. This equals an average speed of 6km/h.
That is normal walkingpace.

PR soldiers can "walk" at 10km/h (joggingpace) forever.
They also have magicaly regenarating stamina and can sprint at 18km/h with full gear.

My point is that PRsoldiers are already superhumans.

Its called Meth my friend.

But in all seriousness I think a good compromise would just be reducing the amount of stamina used to jump.

You're right, this should be tweaked. Infantry is too fast. Just make it so stamina doesn't regenerate when you sprint.

Would it be possible to increase the size of hitboxes while a player is jumping? So when jumping you would have a HUGE hitbox around you making you extremely easy to hit?

Shitty example, but maybe it will help get my idea across?

Only thing I see wrong with this:
Might effect collision with terrain? I'm thinking there is a separate simpler mesh for terrain collision like I've seen in other games,I've never messed with BF2.
Not possible on the BF2 engine?

That way you would be extremely easy to hit while jumping, making bunnyhopping undesirable.

Maybe the way is to decrease stamina penalty? (so you will have 1-2 additional jumps)

They do not run with full equipment, and its called walk, or march! Every EU army have walk or march 40km, or 30 miles, full equipment once per year.

I dont belive, not even for SF that they can run 30 miles with full equipment. By your logic, they will eat all the marathon runers on olyimpic games!

And belive me, going across the wall with full Equipment is very difficult. And another thing, as u can see in PR u run always, and use shift for sprints. IRL u walk almost whole patrol, run only when going trough open fields, with enemy contacts around! Sprint with full equ. is damn hard even for only 100m!

Can you jump 3 times and then run 50-100m in real life? Yes.

Haha! You need to go and put 30kg of gear on and then go outside and actually try. :)

One advantage of slowing everyone down in PR would be that milsim tactics would work.

The downside would be that milsim tactics would work.

I think slightly lowering the amount of stamina that is used during jumping is the best way to go. Or just leave it be...

And now, we wait.....

I dont like the idea of increasing the hitboxes. In PR you have to jump over very small steps and something why should that make you exposable like this? I think its even worse than the sprint penalty.

I played around with all kind of variables and ended up turning the jump into a climb/vault similar to arma.

Only disadvantage is that sprint+jump is gone so no more awesome leaps into cover.

Code: Select all

Vars.Set phy-soldier-inair-speed 1.15
Vars.Set phy-soldier-jump-length-factor 0

And while number of kilograms highly depends on the kit you use. Full combat gear on some kits may get up to 60.

So take a sack of sand weighting ~ 25 kg and try just running 100m without jumping.
