Yes- but it's still up to discussion, is it not?Unhealed wrote:m4 iron sight blocks screens more than the aimpoint if I remember correctly, really dislike using it.
I just mentioned it(in hopes that devs might notice it and then fix it somehow), I'm always on the realism side. Btw this thread is from 2009, devs have a military adviser for US now so it's for them to choose how it's gonna be.

I don't really know but I think not.Echo331 wrote:Yes- but it's still up to discussion, is it not?
Devs don't take any suggestions regarding US(or any other faction they have MA for) now, so this thread should be closed.
Atleast I'm pretty sure this discussion is pointless becouse if they have MA = they don't care what you have to say about something you have read in the internet(especially if it's wikipedia).

Re: Aimpoint for marines?
Hi there, 4 years in the Marine corps, 3rd battalion 7th marines 2006-2010, Infantry Riflemen here, i believe i can handle this definitively...
as of NOW, the ONLY optics actively issued by the Marine Corps for the M16s and M4's are the Trijicon ACOG, to the point where infantry marines now have to qualify yearly with the optic, instead of iron sights like in basic training (a real ***** if, like some of my fellow grunts, you cant get the hang of the range and windage elements on the reticle) ... HOWEVER you CAN purchase optics with your own money, i bought an EOtech for my SAW as i did NOT like the M136 ELCAN MGO's that are issued
the ONLY Marines to use iron sights, are POG's, (people other then grunts, or non-infantry types).

Yep and I don't think they have a MA for the USMC, so still up to discussion.

Dr_Death wrote:so this is still up? if the PR team could make a Std and Alt layer for the kits, why not another Alt with another kind of optics? if this fellow grunt said that there are no one in the USMC (or at least in his division) that was not issued the ACOG or any other sights it means the iron sights should be an option for all kits no matter what, besides their standar issued sights.
It could be, or I hope it is as the change will be more realistic, hence why I never use the aimpoint on the m16a4, and even the eotech seems to be more common than the aimpoint in the Marines.
