Cannot connect to servers

Post by Drieden »

System specs:
- Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1
- Battlefield 2 v1.5
- Project Reality v1.0.36.0

I apparently cannot connect to PR servers.

I can see the master server list just fine, but when I try to join any server, the "JOINING SERVER" message shows up and it never goes away. This happens on the 10 or 15 servers I've tried — except those with passwords, which still prompt me to enter one:

If I try to join via PRSpy links, it just straight-up tells me I can't connect:

I have read several other threads on this issue, and none of those solutions worked out for me.

1) Battlefield 2 is patched to v1.5, and I made sure to start it and connect to a few servers before installing PR 1.0
2) I can join servers on Battlefield 2, with no hiccups from Punkbuster
3) PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB are running while Project Reality is open
4) Windows Firewall is completely turned off
5) Ports 1-34999, TCP and UDP, are forwarded to my machine and other people can successfully connect to web or other application servers I'm hosting

It's not a port, firewall, or Punkbuster issue -- it's only when I'm running PRBF2.exe. I have reinstalled BF2 and PR about 3 times now, and it's survived each time.

Thoughts?

Code: Select all

Win + R > CMD > tracert 188.40.128.142
Once its done, and it may take a while to complete paste it here, or even better grab a screenshot and post it here.

How to use the Tracert command-line utility to troubleshoot TCP/IP problems in Windows

Slight hiccup on the last one but shouldn't be an issue.

I can reach that address too:

I read through the thread you linked, but I've already opened all the ports I possibly can :(

Ugh..I really dont know what to then...leave it to sleep over, reboot your PC, router, some say reinstall helped. I honestly dont know what else can it be.

TBH running already outdated software on new Operating systems is most likely the culprit.

What is your ISP?

Also, try this...

Run PR, start it up.
Start Teamspeak up
Join a teamspeak server like: ts.prta.co
Join a PR server, see if it works.

Also, make sure you have the correct connection set up in the settings.

Open PR up, click on options, GAME, then you should see Cable and a T1 (LAN) option. Pick Cable if not already selected. See if it works.
