What is with the server crashes?

I mean my god.... I remember a few days ago, I could not even play one full round because of server crashes. :\

I am just curious, becuase people are saying: "oh it's attacks, blahblahblah.." and some are saying: "It's a python error, ect..."

There are a lot of crashes now. Some are attacks and some are not.

Is it true Xiangshan AAS crashes servers?

I am not sure.... Since no one plays that map.

I think Phillrow uploaded a video on youtube on that map. Didn't crash, iirc.

I would love to play that map, but no one plays it.

If someone WAS attacking, who the hell would attack?

If it's an error the developers are working on a fix for it. If it's someone attacking the servers it's a person taking pride of it and loving to get the attention you are currently giving him.

There's really no point in discussing this, regardless of why the crashes are happening.

It's a major disruption to the flow of the game. I say this issue is well within bounds of discussing. If this happened on a retail version of a game there would be flocks of players trying to get a refund. For us, it's just a major annoyance as some great games have been lost due to it's frequency.

Yes I want some answers too, it is too annoying to ignore it and so if they want to keep us atleast understanding without turning our back they should give some answers.

Why is it so hard to just create a dump file of the server to check what the reason for crashing is?

The stability needs improvments, but i think DEVS are on it, lets see what the next update brings. There are also Individuals that have fun to attack Gameservers...

Many servers are providing the team with crash logs.

And the primary focus of the team right now is still bug fixing and optimization. Lot has been done already and more is being done each day. Lots of reasons can cause these server crashes (too many networkables, material bugs, coding bugs, or simply bf2 going derp). So no real explanation can be given at this time for the global picture of the crashes. This is something we didn't find during the phase before 1.0 release.

But I agree and understand how annoying it now. It's hard to finish a game myself without it crashing. But remember that any feedback helps, if the server crashed when you were doing something in particular remember to always report it here.

Thanks Mineral, I didn't want to sound angry but it's just more and more frustrating lately, looking at many people leaving PR just because of crashing.
I just wish that other people will think likewise, because I see many people getting angry about it (which I understand).

If the crashing didn't happen, there would be atleast 100% more regular players if not more.

It's getting rough to play. On average I get one and a half rounds before the server crashes. The part that is really frustrating is you speed the time to help seed a server, getting it full and BAM it crashes. Then everyone just goes to the next server. Making it feel like you wasted your time seeding your favorite server.

Also try to remember that we did an extensive beta test and we didn't have server crashes, so this was a surprise that we're having to analyze on the fly. We've already patched a bunch of changes because they were easy fixes, and now we're investigating and trying to fix the more complex issues. Be patient and continue to report bugs and crashes with any info you think is helpful or applicable.

[R-DEV]AFsoccer Thank you for letting us know that you guys are trying to fix it. I have been hoping that you guys knew about this and am glad to see it. It is a big issue on all servers it seems. This started after the last update. when a map is played honestly it crashes half the time. 50 50 chance you will make it through is really what the odds are. Please fix this Devs

It is a legitimate discussion unless this is deemed as the new norm. From comments from the DEV's it isn't. Today I tried to play for 3 hours on 4 different servers all of them crashing at some point and having to restart and you say it isn't worth discussing?

I can see attacks happening.
What makes me laugh, I was talking with some dude in my squad... He was like: It's probably some clan that got in trouble with the PR Devs and got their license revoked. Or it's just some 30 year old creep that just play video games all day in his parents house.

Should there be a sticky for the 1.0 Crashing Bugs? That would be nice.

But I was playing yesterday, after I got back from school. Boom, crash, boom.
I remember a few things before the 2 server crashes.

1.Some guy TKed some dude for a sniper kit, and when he picked the kit up, server crashed.

2.I went to honk my horn, and the server crashed. ( I am not sure if this was the cause, since everyone was derping around in main at the time on Al Barasah)

Actually, there is a thread for this but it's in the Server Admin private forum. That's where they post crash logs. It's not necessary here because it's techo-babble that would bore the rest of you.

soccer is right its all techno babble. There HAS been attacks, as much as I hate to admit it, that has been more of our problem it seems than crashes. CIA was getting DDOSed daily, and on the 1.0 release we were hit for a week. The communities banned him for hacks (pretty blatant) and he was hitting TG HOG and CIA
