Whole sound system goes off when i start project reality.

it all started when i downloaded pr mod, the sound went completly off, not just the game, the hole sound, only way for me to get it back was to restart my computer... please help. i crashes like when i get to the meny when i click play, yes the sound works after i restart my pc, what i meant is, this only happend when i was going to first play pr. not while downloading sorry XD
i tryed to switch from software to hardware, from high to low to medium and turned of eax but it dosent work. it still happens
