Small C4 charge instantly kills Logis, Humvees, Helis, Trans trucks and vehicles and, as Spook said, BTR and BRDM iirc.Walmarx wrote:Small C4 charges do very little damage to armored vehicles, if I remember correctly, therefore, only Combat Engineers would be able to attempt the ninja-stick with any hope of efficacy. At present, C4 is essentially a replacement for incendiaries; it only seems to be intended for use as passive asset demolition in a secured area. Still, at the very least we need to do away with or redistribute the confusing dead frames in the animations, I don't think shaving that much off of the timer would make things much easier for the lulz.

if you have put yourself in situations where you can get ninja'd by a guy with c4, you fucked up, you have no infantry cover or are in a vulnerable position which i think needs to be discouraged. too often do people (including myself) just go blazing into enemy areas with armor alone because i know the one weapon that can one shot me is down, and the rest of the enemy team cant do shit to me. its stupid how people think armor should be invincible.Spook wrote:No YOU are missing the point. Realism not always equals Good Gameplay. How realistic is it to spawn on a bunch of bags? How realistic is it not to being able to jump 2 times in a row and then sprint for a couple of meters? All of those things were done to balance the game since the engine is not capable of simulating RL-situations with all its aspects. What would happen if people could place explosives right away? We would have ninja-pyros everywhere. You might be able to spot one or two C4 sneaks with your APC. But you will never see all of them. You just need to drive by a bush or a corner and some guy will just pop out of it and throw C4 on you. Its a game, people will start doing explosive hit and run tactics all the time. In RL you will not have to expect at least 10 enemies on 2km? dedicated to place explosives on your vehicle.
and dont even act like sticking c4 onto an enemy vehicle moving past happens often enough to merit unrealistic weapons handling based on a gameplay perspective.
and you act like everyone with c4 will bum rush your ***, no. its like saying we should take the knife off of all the kits because it isn't the best tool for the job. you make due with what you have, and sometimes it isn't what you should have.

Even though it's realistic, don't kill gameplay for realism. There should still be a fun factor whilst trying to keep things realistic.
So I would agree on lessening the prep time or do the preparations when you pull out the explosive (Just like with the HAT as others have stated before).

The problem with doing things like that is that the veterans that play the game everyday will learn it, then abuse it.[R-MOD]Spec wrote:this whole overly long animation thing is entirely on purpose to discourage suicide runs with explosives, even for insurgents, and encourage pre-planned ambushes in their stead.
In turn, all it does is discourage it amongst those that don't know the quirky game mechanics the same way those that play the game daily do, and as such they are put at a massive disadvantage against those opponents, because the game mechanics specifically work against them.
Mechanics should be intuitive and obvious. Not deliberately frustrating such that they create the need to learn a larger bag of tricks to keep a level playing field. It just raises the barrier to entry for the game. The hardcore will still abuse the mechanic and the newer players will remain confused because the mechanic is deliberately unintuitive.
