To receive the error message you have to run PR in windowed mode.
I'd try to play a bit in windowed mode until you suffer another crash, that will create a popup window with the error code.

Also, probably lowering graphics options would be a better way to test than lowering resolution.

The HD6450 1GB can play PR pretty smoothly, but not on all high settings.

I did as you said and the game still crashed while running it with the windowed mode and lowered graphics settings. Still no error reports, just the usual ''Clearing/Cleaning PR:BF2 resources'' message.

Edit: Project Reality now crashes on launch too. Black screen, cursor disappears and then once again no error reports, just the regular ''Clearing/Cleaning PR:BF2 resources'' message.

Edit 2: I managed to fix the startup crash by renaming 2 folders and by manually retrieving my BF2 account. My crash to desktop issue ain't solved yet though.

Graphics Scheme: High
Multisampling: Off
VSync: False
Terrain Quality: High
Effects Quality: High
Geometry Quality: High
Texture Quality: High
Lighting Quality: High
Dynamic Shadows: High
Dynamic Lights: High
Texture Filtering: High
Let's test,
set all of those to Low. Click Apply.
Play some PR.

PR is crashing while in the main menu, repeatedly ... this is so bad I think a reinstall is the best option.

Sorry I don't have a troubleshooting concept here, if you are gracefully crashing , getting the "Cleaning Resources" message, while idle in the main menu, I have no idea what could be causing without sitting at the PC and spending more time diagnosing than it takes to simply uninstall, and do a fresh reinstall.

I forgot to mention, I've done multiple uninstall/reinstall thinking it'd fix my crashing issue but it didn't. Also, it's the second time in this thread you mention the suggestion to lower my graphics settings, I did lower them and it didn't fix it. One more thing, I never crashed in the menu, always happened during loading a map or mid-game.

Ok, let's see what we can do.

Troublshooting ideas:
2. Defrag your entire C: drive, or at a minimum, defrag your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps directory and subdirectories.
2. GPU is overheating or mis-seated.
3. RAM is bad or mis-seated.
4. My French is horrible, what is this?
Primary Playback: Casque pour t?l?phone (Microsof
Primary Recording: Microphone sur casque (Microsof
Is it a USB headset? or a 2.5mm headphone/mic jack headset?

1. Check your Page File, if set to a sliding value, I suggest
deleting pagefile.
rebooting.
resetting pagefile manually to a single minimum/maximum.
Here is the raw information to determine your correct pagefile: How to determine the appropriate page file size for 64-bit versions of Windows

then optionally:
manually setting it to a single minimum/maximum, and getting a defrag progam that will move the pagefile to the beginning of your hard drive. A free option:FAQ Special files - How do I defragment "C:\pagefile.sys" (the swapfile)?

2. Testing GPU:
Which exact model of the AMD Radeon HD 6450 do you own? Many of the cheaper HD 6450 have very poor cooling solutions, it's possible your GPU is overheating while loading the map info into the VRAM. Do you have a case fan pulling air away from the GPU? You might try opening up your case and using a regular floor/window fan pointing into the case, (AKA , ghetto test lab solutions)

Do you own a Dell Studio XPS 8300 or a Vostro 460, or what's the exact Dell model number? Is it a midsize or small form factor case?

3. Testing RAM:
I'd suggest following this guide,
How to Test Your Computer's Ram: 14 Steps (with Pictures)

4. If you are using a USB headset, try turning off PC< unplugging the headset, then booting.
Plug in a regular headphones into the 3.5mm jack, and try playing PR.
There are some glitches when using the USB headsets with PR.
