Undeployed RPK
Did you people ever noticed that undeployed RPK, be it PRK-47 or RPK-74, has much better grouping of shots (i.e. less recoil) than the correspondent AK assault rifle? I'm not a gun expert, but I find it very odd and unrealistic that the heaviest and most powerful rifle has the best control and accuracy in full auto undeployed mode when compared to AK or AKS(short one).

Re: Undeployed RPK
Well heavier would still mean less accuracy while standing or crouching if firing several shots so the recoil should be much more punishing with the pkm.

Rpk are not that heavy.Sgt. Mahi wrote:Well heavier would still mean less accuracy while standing or crouching if firing several shots so the recoil should be much more punishing with the pkm.
And pkm does have more recoil, but piston is under barrel.

But the rpk is still heavier than an ak I would guess.ComradeHX wrote:Rpk are not that heavy.

Which would mean felt-recoil is lower. RPK is not heavy enough to make you tired just from firing a few shots.Sgt. Mahi wrote:But the rpk is still heavier than an ak I would guess.
Try shooting a 7.62mm AK(no muzzle device + full stock) then duct tape a brick onto barrel, then shoot it again. Then you will see what I mean.

No disrespect but I have fired a G3 many times, which also uses 7.62mm and based on that experience I would disagree with you on that.ComradeHX wrote:Which would mean felt-recoil is lower. RPK is not heavy enough to make you tired just from firing a few shots.

G3 uses NATO 7.62x51, the AK uses 7.62x39. The NATO bullet is (a lot) bigger.Sgt. Mahi wrote:No disrespect but I have fired a G3 many times, which also uses 7.62mm and based on that experience I would disagree with you on that.

Re: Undeployed RPK
Just because the gun is 7.62 doesn't mean it will have the same recoil. Just look at 7.62 pistols.
Since the RPKs and their AKs fire the same round, just out of different weapons, it makes sense that the heavier weapon would reduce the recoil you feel.

G3 has nothing to do with AK. 7.62x39mm is not 7.62x51Sgt. Mahi wrote:No disrespect but I have fired a G3 many times, which also uses 7.62mm and based on that experience I would disagree with you on that.
Want bigger bullet? 7.62x54r.
