The Pain of Trying to Join a Full Server

Post by PR0_SNIPE »

This is SO frustrating for me. I do this:

Image

for 5-15 minutes before I can get into the server I want. The Auto-Join feature doesn't work at all and I just wanted to know if they're working on some kind of fix like a queue system? There has to be a way for admins to know if there's a lot of people in the proposed queue so that they can see if there's any idle players so they can kick them to make joining the server more swift.

Yes, seeding another server is good but sometimes I want to get right into the action of a full server.
You're hit and then hear the shot.

you cant always get what you want in the world of PR. When you cant join a 98-100 player game ..... Join a game with less people and help seed :) Give the little guy a chance.

PS in this situation the Auto join feature is NOT broken just put in maximum players 98 instead of 100.
Admins area always looking for Idle players who need to be booted to allow for other active players to Join.

ALSO TO FINISH EVERYTHING OFF :) read the field manual and it shall explain it to you.

Auto deploy does work, its just very slow compared to the method you indicated. Even if AD (auto deploy) detects a vacancy at the end of its 5 second refresh time, it is very slow to actually take that slot, at least compared to the armies of ping-spammers. If AD would continue refreshing after a failed attempt to join, it might be more viable.

I even heard there was a theory out there that huge numbers of players doing exactly this might be causing the instability issues due to placing so much demand on the servers for updated status, but it doesn't seem likely to me.

Or... you buy a Reserved Slot! At least the NwA Server provides them for not too much monaaay $$$. So if you like to play on it, buy it!

Okay listen, here is a wonderful piece of advice I am giving you, your days will be enlightened and life brightened.

Quit clicking between two servers to refresh, it's not worth it.
Instead, spam-join the server that you want to join : press ok when it says it's full, join again, etc.

I used your technique for years, but I've noticed how much better it was to actually do as I said, and trust me you'll be surprised of its effectiveness! :p

Sounds reasonable. I'm gonna try your method.

Auto-Deploy is all I need.

Look at PR spy "oh there are some people I want to play with on PRTA. Hm its full already? Well lets just wait."

I watch a bit TV or read a book while Auto-Deploy is working and eventually I can join.

Stress free to the max!

A automatic reconnect for the Autodeploy tool would be really useful. Its kinda pointless when you start autodeploy and do some other stuff and come back to the PC and autodeploy stopped working because it tried to join together with another player.

If the server doesn't have 100 slots (2 reserved slots seems to be the norm of late) auto-deploy will constantly join every 5 seconds, meaning auto-deploy is only useful on a handful of servers and that number appears to be dwindling.

There has been a few times recently in which I gave up trying to play PR because the prospect of trying to get into a 98/100(2 reserved) server puts me right off.

How about instead of making threads like this, you and all the other ppl waiting in line go ahead and seed another empty server ? Unless, of course, you want to play on TG :D . I don't udnerstand the "straight to action" mentality in PR, I can't for the love of god enjoy a round of PR when joining half way in. I need to play at least one entire round of it, otherwise it's not worth it.

Play PR when you have the time, otherwise don't. It's not like you usually book holidays for a week when you got only one day off.

If there would be a lobby this would be quite easy but when you are alone or with a friend and have 2 hours time to play and want a good round aas seeding a server at 11pm with 3 people is not an option most of the time.

Seeding brings up a whole other topic, I get what your point is but the topic of the thread eludes to "full servers" as opposed to "The Pain of Trying to Seed an Empty Server".

Queue combined with Autodeploy should be the only option - no spam-pinging the server and stressing it.

Again, something that could be incorporated in the launcher im pretty sure.

No, this only seems to be an issue with certain servers. For the past couple of weeks autodeploy has been working great for me, with a few exceptions.

3 days ago or so I tried to join the full HOG server using auto-deploy. While it was trying to connect me I noticed that in the server browser (which is still visible in the background) two HOG Mixed Maps servers showed up. After a couple of minutes I got deployed to the wrong (empty) server for some reason, and I have no idea why it would suddenly connect me to a different server.

I've had exactly the same thing happen, I believe it has to do with the address of each server and ofc them being on the same box.
