Actors/Instructors/VoiceOvers/Guests Wanted

Post by Vicious302 »

Hey guys I have started work on a series of youtube videos that will be half instructional and half fun talk about PR. Looking for the following:
  • Patience Actors
  • Knowledgeable Instructors
  • Good voices for Voiceovers
  • Guests, such as but not limited to players, admins, devs, etc.
First segment I have so far is 13 minutes and includes a review and updates relative to the commander positions and mechanics. 13 minutes goes by fast so I'm thinking I'd like to extend it to a full hour, and include a review and update for squad leaders.

Totally unofficial, totally open, totally fun, ideas accepted.

If you want to make it an hour I suggest breaking it up into smaller sections. This way viewers can pick and choose what part of the video that interests them the most.

I may be interested in the changes the update brings, but at the same time I may not want to watch 20 minutes of "how to" before/after.

Good initiative. I agree with Murphy, I'd say 15 mins seems to be the longest amount of time people concentrate on 1 video, or section of a video.

So if you were thinking of youtube, that means wither links to the different sections in the description, or smaller videos and a playlist.

As for help, count me in! I can be an actor, voice over and have lead and recorded my fair share of tutorials and training sessions.

Cheers, Murkey.

Make as short videos as possible, its the easiest for someone who really doesnt care about everything, but needs some bits.

Like; Part 7: Bounding Overwatch - and a short 5-10min clip showing a textbook staged maneuver from different angles, SL and SM perspective with narrating.
Ofcourse you start with the basics, and chapter it appropriately. From kit selection, kit roles, to maneuvres, to advanced maneuvers, then locations, advantages, disadvantages, etc.

Why do i think its better this way? Smaller pieces are faster to script, faster to direct, faster to shoot, faster to upload. There is no filler, there is no annoying repetition, its just a nice short clip about something useful. On top of that, one thing cant bog you down, so even if you ran out of time later on, or there is some problems with real life, you already have everything up to that point uploaded.

Moreover, you can then make a playlist that plays everything in sequence and the viewer doesnt need to browse for the next part.

Also, I believe it would be overally better to just script everything in detail, decide which maps to use, how many actor for each scene and so on, and then record when 1.0 hits.

I can help you if you like. Been playing PR for 3-4 years already (not a very good squad player though). I could perform any role as actor, guest, whatever. English is not my first language, but I speak and understand very well.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

I'd do a "Why following your gut instinct is gonna get ya killed" segment, and show all those scenarios in PR where inexperience always ends up with you dead.

Arresting civis who are trolling, trying to stick a C4 pack on a tank, Guessing you can jump between buildings, shooting a PKM at a little bird, putting IEDs near caches, building a FOB in a corner of a building, medic'ing someone while inside their player model (TK results), using map while driving, etc.

It's all that little unwritten stuff, if 'taught showcased in a funny way, that could be of widespread interest.

(So many standard gameplay videos on youtube/twitch/etc)

EDIT: I learned last night, add nosediving an attack helo in 1.0 , holy crud you can't pull out anymore)

Cool beans, if you need a PR or TS server I could ask my clan mates for use of the 3dac server.

Cheers, Murkey.

Got the first one done that I had started before asking for help. Looking for help on the next one regarding Insurgents' Strategy.
