This was in fact one of my first thoughts after I saw the Syrian faction was working on fixing up the the T-55

It wouldn't compare to their MBT but would be nice to run along side it but the model still needs quite a bit of work yet.

Anyone whos keeped an eye on BF2 mods recently will know there is no way this mod will see the light of day when it comes to playing online, unless it could join into a mod that has a solid online community, ie. where PR comes in. As ive said before it seems so worthless for all these guys work to get chucked away into something people might play single player when there bored one day. Not only that but as anyone can attest to PR has the best gameplay your gonna get on the BF2 engine. If the guys making this mod can see sense maybe theyll put in the extra work to make it something that will get it the appreciation it deserves.
I see, you mean basically what we did with importing EOD2 to make PR:V? Well tbh, that's a much larger and more complicated prospect than porting just the odd bit of content we can use
The main reason why it happened with PR:V is because the EOD2's Lead Dev, who was also a Project Reality Dev, TrahnLee was the main initial driving force behind getting EOD2 into PR, although it was taken over by AfterDune once TrahnLee had to move on due to r/l stuff iirc. This was a pretty unique set of circumstances since you had both EOD2 and PR Devs workings on getting this in.
This is unlikely to be the case with IDF:FFI, since I don't think any of their developers are active or interested (at least now) in doing this, and we, the Devs are waaay to busy with all our other stuff to even consider this, so it would have to be a community lead and driven project.
Then comes to complications of making this happen.
First of all you would need to get permission to do this, might not be the simplest process to even get in contact with them but you can try and you might get lucky.
Once granted permission, then you need to try and get hold of all the assets. Again, far easier said than done, most mods have all their assets spread over the place and in time, are lost. Even PR has soo much stuff that we have simply lost over the years, even after getting up an "Assets Repository" as not everyone uploads to it and with computer crashes etc, stuff just gets lost and even for the people who have it, they are probably not up to looking deep in their old backups for it... You can probably get the files for some of the stuff, but all of the stuff I very much doubt so.
So saying you get all the files, then its a matter of picking up from where they left off, which probably includes finishing off a lot of models with lods, cols, etc, doing up textures, exporting, coding, and even stuff that's coded needs its code tweaked a hell of a lot to fit into PR's standards, this all is a really hard task. Even things that you see ingame screenshots of, like their T-55, doesn't have lods and isn't optimized etc, its only screenshots of its basic export so you would need to do a lot of fixing up, and most likley without the orignal max files. This was hard enough for EOD2 which had been though a few releases and had most of its content ingame so we didn't have to worry to much about re-exporting etc, mainly just the coding side.
And then yes, once you've got over the problem of their initial assets, you've then got the problem gipakok highlighted, maps. Yes they probably have a couple of WIP maps but they are probably too WIP to work with and most likley wouldn't fit with PR's gameplay. You realistically would need to look at making new maps from scratch although yes, you could use one or two of the current maps with alternative layers for this time set but that wouldn't work too well either.
So while this is far from impossible to do I agree, there are a hell of a lot of obstetrical to overcome and your going to need an entire team that's seriously motivated and knows what they are doing to really pull this off, and that's assuming you can get permission and the files. So good luck to you or anyone who undertakes this, but don't kid yourself about the size of a task like this.
