He's not talking about PR, 1.6 is a common name for the original version of Counter-Strike, it was the last version of it before Source came out.

Today is my first day. A list of things I've learned and the consequences follows.

Things I've learned:
  1. I can't hit shit
  2. I can't ID by uniform
  3. The game closes my Internet connection after ~1/2 hr of playing
  4. This game is fun
Consequences (in order):
  1. I'm getting familiar with the Wounded screen
  2. A Russian bot stabbed me with his bayonet
  3. It's hard to play online
  4. I'm going to have to fix that connection thing

A couple years ago I played SP offline due to internet restrictions. Yesterday was my first online PR experience. My observations/conclusions similar to the other new player above. Played a few bot matches with other players and tried a few minutes of a player server. I haven't scratched the surface. This mod is great.

I don't remember my first day of PR but I do remember the first day of the 1.0 Beta:

It was on Ramiel and this guy was near the cache with an RPG and no nametag so I shot him. He got pissed off and told me, 'If I was an enemy I would've blasted ya!'. I didn't know about the 64 player limit with nametags on 100 player servers then.

EDIT:

OH I remember my first PR days. It was on 0.86 and I was scared to play deploy matches so I just played training servers. I was a HUGE troll and kept dropping the JDAM from the harrier on Kashan while I was on the ground. It blew everyone up including all the planes and vehicles nearby. Man that was fun. Then one day I tried to deploy and played insurgency and my life was changed forever.
You're hit and then hear the shot.

my first time was in 0.9, I had watched a bf2 vid on YouTube of a carrier sinking, I asked what mod it was the vid maker replied project reality, so I installed it went on the NWA server hopped into a apc on the mec team not knowing that you needed the crewman, next round al barash where I did NOT know that grenade traps could tk people or kill caches placed 5 around a cache leave the building and BOOM, banned for 2 hours.

My first day playing PR was in the Summer of 2008. I was getting tired of playing BF2 single player (since 2005), so I watched a gameplay video on Youtube. I instantly fell in love.

Can't recall the name of the server but I think it was called "Texas Team gaming" - where I had my very first PR multiplayer battle. It was an amazing experience.

However, it was obvious I had to practice. Therefore, for the next 6 months I was playing strictly on different training servers (mostly on "Battleforce Training Server").

When I look back for the past 5 years... There are so many wonderful memories which I will never forget.

Even though my PR playing days are temporarily over due to an ancient pc, I am hoping to start playing again next year when I get a new one. For now, I am watching Youtube videos and participating in forum discussions when I can. Also, I listen to the PR soundtrack (old and new) in my car whenever I am on the road.

Since 2008, I have contributed hundreds of dollars in monthly PR donations and also for various servers.
Was it worth it? Hell, yes! Every single cent!

PR forever!
