Ah, I see. I am working... or just trying :D ...on redoing german grunt. IMHO the original phrases of vBF2 german grunt is horrible for a game like PR, maybe even for vBF2. :D So I did the same like you, redoing the phrases and make em fit more into gameplay of PR, before recording.

Sure. I also tried to make them in accordance with PR mechanics so that it sounds consistent. Even tho only the french will be able to understand them :D

I guess, that's the same point for germans, but accordingly to realism, country based pronounciation of phrases let a) people with the same tongue dive deeper into the game and b) people with a different tongue/origin get a decent feeling of that faction.

That's why new phrases and an appropriate voice for a faction is essential IMO. :D

'[MoL wrote:F-F0rc3;1948452']Did you record the same sentences, that were in the original files, or have you redone them, like working out new phrases to make em more realistic?

Just asking, because I don't understand french, but it's still interesting to know for me. :D
Yes, they kind of had to be rephrased because the first ones sounded very awkward, with a french that sounded too 'formal' for common spoken language you know, so it was not very natural ;)

Since we're on topic with French voices, what about the French Canadian voices we discussed a (whole) bunch of pages ago ? I would love to try and make them because I can't work on French voices because of my Quebec accent

But I don't remember if this idea was refused or accepted...

I don't think anyone will stop you from giving a try. Send few recordings to anders and he'll surely tell you what he thinks about.

What equipment/software did you use? Are these raw files?
You have chosen some really interesting and alternative sentences, but IMO sometimes to quiet or even to much tempered for grunt.

Answer would be appreciated, also a PM (german as well). :)

@ Force

Equipment: Record-Studio. Met a guy there while drumming ;)

Emotion: Can't really tell when which emotion is appropriate. That's the difficult here. I made the sounds for squadlead, since there were the most mistakes. "over" thing ;)

Thanks for participating!

Something Anders told me over and over again : too much reverb. Those records need to get absolutely no reverb (or as less as possible).

Try to record inside a closet.

Yes, closet or car. As much soft material as you can muster needs to surround you as much as possible to get rid of that pesky, low-quality reverb.

Imagine yourself f.e. in your brand new in hell build and hell devastating wrecker of a MBT, made your way to the frontline or at least beyond and then a god damn son-of-a-goat rpg/mine came out of nowhere just to destroy your right chain. You're stuck in the middle of no-friend-town and I guess, you don't wanna stay there. You want to move on, of course with your hellmachine. So you need repairs. And when do you want em? Asap, or now, or if possible yesterday! Make that clear when calling in repairs! Get yourself into the situation before start recording.

Most time, war is fast, as it's a key for winning battles. And grunt most time has to follow orders. So they are IN the battle. They have to act and react as fast as they can to survive the situations, they're thrown into.

Guess, you know that already, ...just want you to keep that in mind, when recording.
And this was just an example. Don't get me wrong. Some samples are better than others. :D

And I must admit, "Reparationen" is no existing word, I guess. I'd use "Reparaturen" instead, if you want to use that phrase anyways. :)

Record studio should have noise absorbers around ;)

What I listen to, is no actual reverb IMO. But if I'm wrong, let me know Ghostwolf. :p

"Reparationen" is a real word. But not the right one :D Noticed that.
Sound Quality can't get better. I'm in a room with isolated walls and some music instruments inside.
Acting Quality can get better ;) But you call "reparatur" through your radio. You don't scream from inside the tank to an outside dude. So I guess I would chill... Let me search a few references ;)

Edit:

They seem to be aware of the situation. But not unnecessarily screaming.

I guess he meant the "heat of a battlefield". Noone is calm in a battle.. The meanest toughest guys scream when the fire starts. And as PR cant get realistic enough and is very rapid when the action begins, we need these atmospheric touches with screaming soldiers. Then we dont need calm people with voices as they're sitting behind a computer and "think" that they're screaming. Like, "hey you if its ok for you, I need a medic in about 5 min, but yeah, take your time, I will just respawn if you can't" -type of voice. :)

Yes, heat of a battlefield, that's what I meant in short.

Good to see you back around anders. :D

Hm, kk. Check the "Marker" out. There I made some good "differences".

According to War-Video-Footage of the Germans in Afghanistan they only are getting louder when the bullets impact next to them and they want the others to cover.

But "Let's move" is quite calm, if they proceed an attack. It's not WW1 where you blow the whistle :D

So you prefere sentences like:

"DORT DR?BEN, FEIND, SCHIESST SE WEG!" for "Attack here"?
"OVER THERE, ENEMY, F*CK 'EM UP!"

or

"Gruppe, greift dort an!"
"Group, attack on the marker!"

There are various situations for the attack marker.
Mortar Squadlead, Spotter but also Tank Commander(enemy 5 meter next to you)

I think I can bring you what you want. But I need to know, what you want^^

IRL, SLs mostly talk about the plan of the attack to the squad before they start moving in. So for the Attack marker, you could imagine the SL and his squad around a table with the map, saying "Here's our attack position".

For the Move marker, I guess it could simply be a "Let's go !", or "Get your *** over there !" with definitely much more heat as this could surely be said during a hard fight.
