New American PR player, but only 1 server.

Post by DrCaesarsPalaceMD »

I'm really torn up and surprised by the fact that there is only one popular server.

Now, i'll take notice that at the time it is 11PM US Central Time for me, and while there is a decent amount of servers, there is one US server with 100/100 players, and the only other server, (though hard to call it a server considering it has 22 players) is also a Latin American server so upwards of 200 ping.

I know this is nothing wrong with the mod, and that this is a niche kind of game type/playstyle. But this is severely worrying as I was definitely looking forward to playing.

Perhaps this is a pure weekend game. I can imagine a game lasting a long time, but still, I'm worried about the actual life of this mod, as it is one of the best for any game in general.

If there's anything I'm missing, or something that could be causing specific servers to be missing. (I pray for that to be the case.)

In the end, I'll probably have to suck it up and play something else, and just wait for the weekends.

Sorry for the possible "cry" thread, just disappointed, and hoping for a magic post to solve this unavoidable problem.

It is normal, only =HOG= or ]CIA[ (and sometimes TG) populates on America. But don't worry, one of them will always be full.

You can enable an auto join for those 100/100 servers. Enable it and then get a snack, and you should be good to go in a few minutes.

On the weekends, I suggest playing on Tactical gamer. DRK is also populated, but they run scenarios on Sundays. They are fun, but may be to much for a beginner. Regardless, if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! A lot of players will be happy to help. Just read the manual before asking. Good luck.

auto join is quite dodgy since it most of the time will try to connect too late and then you just come back to a "sorry server was full" message.

As someone mentioned (I forgot the name) your better off just press join even if it is full.....then when it tells you it is full you press ok and then join again.
When you have done that 10 or 20 times you are most likely going to be successful.

I'm surprised you are having issues with auto deploy. Since 1.0 they increased the rate at which it attempts to join, and I have yet to have any problem with it. I usually get into servers within 2-3 minutes. For servers like TG that have two server slots, just set the max number of players to 098 instead of 98 to auto deploy.

welcome to my world. :-P during summer and expecially close to releases it becomes more than a weekend game. but with school/work etc, it is a weekend game in north america (although some people cant seem to admit it)

PR is a game of patience, right down to waiting for a slot on a server to open up. ive been giving low populated servers a try lately and honestly have been having some of the best rounds in 1.0 yet. dont be discouraged by one full server and another couple low-pop servers. you will rarely be disappointed by low pop servers if you are willing to bring teamwork to the table.

if i were to recommend one i would say Tactical Gamer is great low pop or near-full, always seems to be admins on willing to seed the server properly(actually playing with the pubs instead of all AFKing)

in short, dont worry about the player count, enjoy the game with however many people there are, until the weekend rolls around then have yourself a Tali-Blastin' good time!

Very limited number like playing on half empty servers and admins get tired of seeding. With 100 player servers and a limited player base once 1 or may be 2 servers are full any one looking on PR spy may not want to sit playing with 20 others just incase no one else turns up. Or don't want to wait the time it takes to get a slot.

Either rent a reserve slot on your favourite server or as most of the others do, play something else.

I'm a big fan of the old 64 player servers. More servers for the player base to chose from runnig full or nearly full and less stale mate COD style flag rushing when you have 2 teams of 50 players trying to attack defend one flag. Not to mention less crashes. I see better teamwork on 64 player servers, bring them back.

Sorry went OT there. GTA5 is also another reason.

weeknights are going to be quiet for PR, it simply takes too long to play a round for anybody who's still in school to play, and is still difficult for those with full time jobs. weekends are when you'll see more servers being populated.

that said though even during week nights you'll have at least one server running at capacity.
