ATGM's Speed

Post by Takeda »

Merkava ATGM missile is propably słower than BMP one. Would be cool if somebody could confirm that. Saw it about 2 times. In one case, missiles were shoot in same moment, but BMP get Merkava when ATGM from merkawa was in about half way.

cheers.

Merkava:
TOW:
Initial velocity: 300m/s
Maximum: 296m/s
Acceleration: 175m/s^2 (doesnt matter since initial speed is greater than max)

BMP-3:
AT10 Stabber:
Initial velocity 370m/s
Maximum: 450m/s
Acceleration: 50m/s^2

So yes, the BMP3 one is faster. But so is it IRL (atleast according to wiki)

I think they have got more realistic acceleration now iirc, but I'm not sure

Merkava doesn't have a TOW, it should have the LAHAT. I know wiki isn't the best, but from what I know there aren't any tank fired TOWs. Also just reading about it, Laser targeted LAHAT, so boss.

Yeah its cool like it is now, before it was way to fast.
I posted a video example of it, in version 0.98.

Just max velocity is faster, but accleration 3 times lower, so on the range of around 1km MK should kill BMP 3 times faster! Max. speed is important only on long range engagment, since MBP AT10 need around 7s to rich max speed, Mk less then 2s.

Erm, I think you skimmed through the initial velocity thing, buddy. BMP-3's round is faster than the TOW straight off the bat and needs 2seconds to reach its max speed. TOW goes off at max velocity, which is way lower than what the AT10 starts at.
