I'm going to assume its for playing PR.

For that budget, I would take a look at the Lenovo Ideapad Y500 or Y510P. Its a cheap / powerful laptop.

Hmm, main purpose for it to be portable, with decent battery life and extra GPU for kicking in only as backup, if the Intel HD Graphics start to lag.

So, main aspect for it is portability.

Lenovo Y500 is too heavy, and are for serious gaming.

This for my sister, as I dont really have time to look into the offer, so maybe though you guys can suggest some :)

Also forgot to mention - it must have matte display.

Sorry, but this does not work. I live in Latvia and only thing you can get is prebuild laptops. If you buy custom one, you pay way to much it.

Also, looked at HP ProBook 450 with AMD Radeon card in it. What you guys think about that ProBook?

For a notebook for a school age kid, that looks fine.

The only downside is the HDD speed,
Storage device size: 750 GB
Storage device speed: 5400 rpm

But she can live with that. Won't affect casual usage cause most of the immediate use stuff will be in the 8GB RAM, will affect middle tier games.

You could even set up a 2 or 3 GB ramdisk for all the TEMP files, will give a noticeable boost and actually make use of the full 8GB during daily usage. You pay for 8GB, use all 8GB.

Take a look at Lenovos L530 and put a msata ssd as addition into it.

I bought the earlier version L520 with an ssd as addition for a friend of mine and it is great.
Windows 7 is running like hell on the 128GB ssd

I don't understand it, the site doesn't let you ship to Latvia?
Try simillar Russian or even Latvian sites where you can customize your laptop.

The GPU is fine.. You could even save up money and buy one without a GPU (unless she does 3D intensive tasks or games).

The integrated videocards in CPU's are relatively powerfull nowadays.

Mr Careless, I think you haven't been in Eastern Europe and how is it to live there. With 400 euros in month you start to think what to buy.

And Latvia does not have such sites + Russia is not in EU so need to pay import price (20% from price of the item + shipping)

So please...

Anyhow, only things here available are preset laptops from big companies like HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Acer etc...

The funny thing is, I actually am from "Eastern Europe", from Central-Asia to be more precisely. I never thought Latvia has real economic problems though.

You didn't really answered my question though :P does pcspecialist ship to Latvia? Their site says it ships to all of Europe

If no; there have to be more websites that do ship to Latvia.

Eitherway, you can't expect to find a very cheap laptop with very good specs :? (I'm also having this problem)

If you have some Latvian electronics websites, we can search on there to see the prices.
I got no idea what anything costs there :)

Nah, its fine. The newegg, ncix etc even UK prices are close to the Latvian pricing. So, no need for it.

But if you wish: M79.lv, tera.lv, dateks.lv

500Ls is the maximum what I can spend.
