Re: Server Crash stats?
Those parameters you say don't even matter. These are the crash logs. Prevtzer asked for them so here he has some to find out what's crashing the servers. If anyone can show that they can work with these to fix the issues then I'll give them as many as they want. But so far all they have done is whined about it instead of helping. So I still don't see any point spamming the public forums with them. While the coding devs can simply look at the private admin forums where they are posted in a very organized way and where only people with actual knowledge about these things can communicate.

Re: Server Crash stats?
What I said was: Make a public thread in the appropriate forum section and post all the new and old logs there as well, so somebody from the community can help. So far you guys haven't cracked the problem yet, so I really don't see why it would hurt.[R-CON]Mineral wrote:Those parameters you say don't even matter. These are the crash logs. I never said post them here so that I will solve this issue like you guys seem to "understand".

Re: Server Crash stats?
The thing about public logs is that nobody is going to be able to use them without access to the actual server code. I can look at the crash log and see that it was caused by a segfault, but without some sort of source code to reference the only thing I'm going to be able to give is uneducated guesses.
And considering that the server code isn't going to be public any time soon, it wouldn't really do anything other than waste time.

Re: Server Crash stats?
There are multiple reasons (Which I won't get into) which cause servers to crash. Not all of it has to do with the 1.0 code.... Server specs / dates and times won't matter. Here is an example of a crash. One of my admins was testing if his admin was working and warned himself.... server crashed.... As a Server Admin and a Community leader, this is frustrating, but I have hope. The dev's got us this far, they will work it out. As FatalWaffles said earlier, they do this in their SPARE TIME, and it's FREE. Don't expect bugs to be fixed overnight.

Bugs are a major part of this communities eco-system. Dont expect them to simply disappear over night! The community would be left with nothing to talk about!

Re: Server Crash stats?
Is there really no way that making all the relevant info public could help with the crashes? You said it yourself, the DEVs are busy, so why not let the community have a shot at it?SyntheticCoyote wrote:There are multiple reasons (Which I won't get into) which cause servers to crash. And please, don't go with the overnight and devs-work-for-free thing. 1.0 has been out for several months, so that's not overnight and while they don't request any money they still receive donations - or is that for starving children?

Re: Server Crash stats?
Its for holding the infrastruce running...Website, PR Mumble, Licencse costs etc...you are free to donate something, nobody forces you. You can (and obviously you do) play this mod without paying anything to the DEVs, so no need for demanding something because there are donations.
Afterdune and K4on posted in another thread that several members of the DEV Team are simply really busy at the moment and got no time to fix bugs or look into specific problems.
Threadrelated i dont think it would be that useful to posts these logs in public forums, maybe a few ones to show what skills are needed...those who are really interested and bring the needed knowledge to be helpful can simply PN a DEV....

Great, thanks for clarifying. I don't play though (terrible optimization issues) I just come here to rant occasionally.ghostfool84 wrote:Its for holding the infrastruce running...Website, PR Mumble, Licencse costs etc...you are free to donate something, nobody forces you. You can't just expect people to PM the DEV's offering help, you need to take a step towards that yourself. Posting logs and related info might just be a good start.ghostfool84 wrote:Afterdune and K4on posted in another thread that several members of the DEV Team are simply really busy at the moment and got no time to fix bugs or look into specific problems.

Look potato, you posted a random crash log without any other useful info in this thread, not in it's own separate thread so stop trolling and go potato.brezmans wrote:We have posted info, nobody helped out. Stop trolling, give it a rest.
Noddy. - name calling is just childish. Infraction given.

Re: Server Crash stats?
I used to not have this, then I switched to a new Arris router and things went back to being randomly disconnected from servers. Here's the thing, this only ever happens on CIA and HOG usually, playing on the German and Russian servers didn't kick me at all. What gives? Sometimes I can play CIA but it kicks me eventually, it always does. What fixed it for me last time was the ability to find my belkin routers IP flood detection and shut it off and the firewall, except I don't know how to do that with an Arris. Anyone know? And how does one find a crashlog? Though I suppose I wouldn't have them since I don't really crash, I just get disconnected.

TM702G/CT, and by firewall the window's firewall? Sorry I'm not very good at stuff like this.matty1053 wrote:Turn firewall to off or custom settings.
What model is your arris. Might have a possible fix(s) for y'all.

Re: Server Crash stats?
Well I have Norton so how does that factor in since it took over the firewall management. Just disable Norton?
Edit: It appears disabling Norton's smart firewall worked for an hour or two on HOG, though it seems in that instance there was a mini-server crash and 20-ish people were kicked for no reason so in that instance I blame the server.

Reason: New information on the kicks.

Re: Server Crash stats?
Also it appears that time plays into this as well, I can't seem to join servers for very long during later hours of the day ( I live in Illinois ) so after 10PM the servers are more liable to do their random kicking.

Re: Server Crash stats?
Yeah getting them again, can play for somewhat longer times but evening play is very intermittent.
Still getting them on HOG, will try CIA. This is odd, used to be working for a bit I don't know what gives since I disabled the firewall.
