Commandeer Vehicles?

Post by SaWeD »

Hey,

I think i have a pretty cool idea. What if, instead of having to switch classes to anti-tank / SF to do away with enemy armor or jeeps; you could simply pop a grenade in the hatch of a tank...BOOM...jump in and the tanks yours. As for the jeeps; well, sneak up behind the unsuspecting driver lay the beat down on him and drive off! or initiate a button sequence to take over these vehicles. Just an idea. Let me know what yall think
Never play cards with any man named "Doc."
Never eat at any place called "Mom's."
And never, never, no matter what else you do in your whole life, never sleep with anyone whose troubles are worse than your own.

Something I forgot to include here; This idea might interfere with the idea of tanker class getting thrown around, but personally it think ithe game would lose acouple fans (i know its a mod) if you were to stop the ability to drive a tank at the whim of the player :?

i think the nade in the hatch idea was dropped because you dont drive around in a tank with your hatch open, well at least in the middle of a battle, and i dont understand what your saying about taking over a vehicle, kill the driver and its yours.

I mean an enemy armor sitting at a capture point blowing the hell outta your team. You sneak up on him open the hatch yourself by jumpin on tank and usin action buttion and let the nades fly. The jeep idea i was just messin around with

If a tank's hatches are closed from the inside by a crew member, there's no way for you to open it from the outside.

There's no way to lock/unlock from the outside. It can only be locked/unlocked from inside, by hand, it's not like there's anything that automatically latches it when the hatch closes. The only way to lock from the outside is with a padlock, and only one hatch can be padlocked from the outside - so you can't get locked in.

And for typical HMMWV's it's pretty funny, they have no way of locking them built into the vehicle. We would take apart the latch system that connected the handle on the outside to the working parts inside (on all 4 doors) and use a heavy chain & padlock to tie the rear hatch handle down to the frame of the truck. The only way in was to climb in the back and crawl through, then you just need to remember to keep the windows down, or the gunner's hatch open (because it can lock from the inside only.) We were forced to figure out that you could lift the rear hatch slightly, remove an antenna and use it to reach all the way up to the door and force it open by pushing on the inside handle... don't tell the badguys about this! ;)

This is all based on my knowledge of US vehicles up until ~6 years ago... there might be differences in newer armored vhicles produced since then.

CHP must have had a lot of fun opening the hatch to that stolen M60 when they had to shoot the driver.

first of all, how well is the tank equipment going to work after a nade being tossed in? secondly the hijacking thing cant happen because not anyone on the battleifield, especially the enemy, are able to drive it, unless specially trained. also the PR mod will be taking out nametags, which would make enemies in friendly impossible to tell apart from friendlies at a quick glance, and thats all it takes to be gunned down.

ok, you've got me on the hard to tell friendly in enemy or enemy in friendly, but, the grenade thing wouldn't be such a big deal. I suppose if this is a realism mod just pop out your flash bang and walla...friendly or not he is blinded. Then just gun him down

the creativity of youre idea is good (haha youve played halo2 havent you?) but i think that in real life there must be some heavy duty lock on the hatch to prevent exactly what youre getting at.

haha you REALLY want to be able to hijack tanks and other vehicles dont you??? i think it would be hard (if not impossible) to put this feature in using the bf2 engine.
