Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
Matt,
No I do not have Comcast Triple Play, I just have their internet, so I didn't have to think about getting a modem that could support phone lines as well as internet. I am sure that if you did some research you could find an option so that you don't have to use their all-in-one loaner modem and can still have all your services supported. If I have some time I will look into if that is an option for you.

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
APPERENTLY...
It is 2 possible reasons.
1.The default modem comcast gives you...
2.Comcasts "Speed Boost".
Now, I am looking into this.
EDIT
Comcast Users, Please Report Back.
To let you guys know, apperently Comcast's internet service does NOT support BF2 online multiplayer since it is "VERY OLD".
I might just buy a line from AT&T's DSL service again.... It's actually Stable. 6mbps should be enough for PR.

But. I give up. I think it's a firmware update.
Man this thread was hot like 2 months ago.
Now it's dead.

Wow, you take it easily. I'd be furious if my ISP told me this:matty1053 wrote:I am coming over to your house!!!

That stinks. Sounds much more like they're fobbing you off to try to get you to go away, than to actually fix their problems. Not a bright future for you guys if you're content to put up with that kind of service, imo.matty1053 wrote:apperently Comcast's internet service does NOT support BF2 online multiplayer since it is "VERY OLD"

Well, I am going to try to restore my router/modem to factory settings.
I did that before, It SEEMED to work.
But honestly, I just give up.
But the funny thing is... games BEFORE BF2 work with Xfinity.
Again I stated Before.
When I first got comcast.... I had no disconnects. IT started in June it seems like when the DC's started.
I HEARD comcast updated the blast speed(S) from 25mbps to 50mbps...
Maybe it has to do w/ them updating their tiers... or something.

Got Comcast, too. I can usually play 1 round before I'm randomly disconnected. This sucks, there are on other options than Xfinity in my area and I don't like sacrificing what is otherwise solid internet for this.

Are you using default comcast gateway modem/router?Lauxman wrote:Got Comcast, too. I can usually play 1 round before I'm randomly disconnected. This sucks, there are on other options than Xfinity in my area and I don't like sacrificing what is otherwise solid internet for this.

Do you have the comcast 'triple play' or such?
Do you have INTERNET with HOME PHONE?
Do you have JUST INTERNET?
Do you have TV + Internet?
Please respond.
You could be a lucky duck.

I don't have the triple play, I have the 100 mbps Internet and TV, no phone.
Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, just the first and last page.

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
Alright!
Just asking.
And you should be able to get a decent modem...
This one
Also, that is JUST A MODEM, not a modem/router.
So if you want a router. (if you plan on using any wireless)
Here is a good router, I OWN. It's fine for Comcast. (Only if you use a different modem other then theirs!
)
THIS
VERY GOOD ROUTER.
Yes it's $100+ It's still a beast. I tested it with my buddy. We tested 56 wireless connections on it. No issues.
It can take a few beatings too!

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
funny thing happened yesterday. im in a sqd by myself and a guy joins....
he says "hi",
i say "hey, how's it going"
and he proceeds to tell me he is radomly losing connection.
i say "do you have an arris router?"
"yes i do"
"well there is your problem dude. you need a different modem man, arris and bf2 dont work well together"
minutes later he disconnects....i hope he gets it taken care of.
At least we know what the deal is now anyways....might as well put "SOLVED" in the threads title and change the Original Post to better ID the problem for others.

Can a moderator post in the original post that the ARRIS modems are causing the problem?

Yes, this would be nice.Steeps wrote:Can a moderator post in the original post that the ARRIS modems are causing the problem?
From what I did some study on this.
Comcast in June/Late June made their 'boost' speed go from 25mbps to 50mbps. (I have b00st)
This IS the Cause. I remember the months BEFORE June were fine no DC. After they 'upgraded the speeds', I have noticed this issue common.
Comcast users that have the 'boost' speed... experience this issue.

Re: PR 1.0 disconnects after like 15 minutes
So I changed from a cheap Arris modem to a new Arris router/modem and it doesn't happen anymore.
