What's happened to teamwork??
I dont want to come across as gloomy but am just curious as to whats happened to this fundamental value to PR!
I havent played PR since 0.98 but seem to have found myself back into it, but this has been noticeably different in terms of no one speaks to each other and teamwork is somewhat lacking. I remember in the older versions that if you didnt speak or follow some sort of order you were kicked and felt the urge to atleast better yourself in this department.
Having played a few rounds it seems a bit COD to me alot of people seem to go lonewolf style.
Are there any servers UK etc that still play in the 'old' way

Re: Whats happened to teamwork??
It also depends a lot on when you play. I have found that If I play on U.S. servers in the late afternoon or early evening, as opposed to nights and weekends, the team play seems to be much greater. I don't know if it's because new and younger players might be playing more on nights and weekends. Just something I have noticed personally.
And now, we wait.....

Re: Whats happened to teamwork??
Thank you dude.
Finally someone agrees.
I was talking to my squad. (I was squadlead of a recon squad)
The mortar squad on the map (Dovure) was doing nothing to support the team. (they were mortaring NOTHING) They had 8 players in the squad doing nothing. They were sitting at the moutain near Russian main and doing absolutly nothing.
I have a ton fo examples for this.
I was on the HOG server. NO teamwork. The APC squad was rediculous. They were just camping the MEC's main. So they didn't do any teamwork.
The funniest thing about that round.
I was commander. Only like 2 inf squads listened. (They had like 4 players in them)
I got kicked for 'bitching to squads for no reason'. I was telling the APC to move and help the INF out. So they decide to report me for bitching at them. And I got kicked. For absolutely NO reason.
But I Agree with the OP.

A really old game happened. Most older players have moved on/play hardly anymore. The bulk of the population now consists of people that have to learn and of those that refuse to do the first and just troll around.

You guys just have to join a PR clan/community and participate in clanwars, tournaments and campaigns. THAT is where you have 200% teamwork, I assure you. NOTHING "public"...

Re: Whats happened to teamwork??
i find that when i am doing commander the way to get unresponsive squads to help out is by marking things on the map like a fob or armor or infantry and i make a quick message to the sqd like "sqd 4 this is commander, i need u to move here in order to blah blah blah, thanks."
then i give them the "squad map order" and then i get a page up or page down on whether or not they will comply.
and i find usually they do comply....remember a lot of people are new to squadleading or their SL left and they are just filling the role. and they might not know what button to press to talk to you the commander. so make it simple for them. that is what i try to do and while it doesnt always work i have found that most of the time it does.

Well, i was really into Teamplay but since 1.0 I hardly play PR at all.
My last round was 2 or 3 weeks ago. Since my favourite gamemode INS got nerfed too much it doesn't make fun anymore. And 4km AAS is just boring if you always play as INF Medic.
I hope in PR2 we can go back to the roots. I'm missing mumble.

Medic is very fun. (Since all you do is revive and heal)
But it gets boring since you constantly always revive and heal. No one communicates.
What ever. Just wait till Thanksgiving and you will have more teamwork.

Re: Whats happened to teamwork??
A good way to get players to communicate as medic, is to ignore them if they dont.
Im so tired of players going "Need a medic here, over here..."
Where?
Over here.
What direction? Where are you precisely?
Over here...
On what floor?
Over here....
Its simple. Open map, click medic, tell him to move NE NW what ever, describe your last position, as in, I was on the wrap-around, north side 2. floor I think.
Over Here...and all you get is me ignoring you.

Re: What's happened to teamwork??
Funny is that people join your squad and dont say a word for 30 minutes, but if they go down they want medic asap. Of course they dont tell that a tank shot they and its still there.....
On certain servers teamplay is so bad, i dont join them anymore even when there is no other server...admins who only care about assets and sniper kits, players who dont communicate at all and give a shit about flags...and in the end you get warned and kicked if you try to get people to the flag.
There are simply to many people who do not care about teamplay and only care their own business.
Oh the defending squad is going down and enemy will cap the flag soon - ah lets head in the opposite direction in the middle of nowhere...
Oh we will lose Kashan Bunkers and nobody is on the way to south village - nvm lets try to hunt down tanks at north outpost
Oh our team is attacking enemy flag and enemy armor holds them down - nvm lets lase targets for cas at the other end of the map
Oh we only got one infantry squad that can cap flags - nvm lets create a 6 man recon/sniper squad and abandon the supply track 2 grids away from enemy main base..and we need a HAT for sure to "cut enemy supply lines" even if the enemy has capped halfway through and tanks rape our team somewhere else.
...and then when your team finally lose these people are the ones that spam mumble "lolo team was so bad"

So many players get the excellent idea to not care about the flags but sneak around and try to get some easy kills under the excuse of "cutting off the enemy supply".
Also playing the medic role has never been more annoying since there is always someone that is critically wounded that expect the full attention of the medic no matter the situation. Everyone is a hero and get themselves wounded in the middle of a terrible charge towards the enemy location, and expect the medic to revive them first before the enemy is defeated.
The final most annoying thing is that everyone has to comment with an "oMG Wtf" when an expensive asset gets destroyed by enemy fire although the same person never tried to warn about the danger present.
I sometime wonder if the 100 player change has had an effect on the teamwork and made it less personal since your just 1/50 so if you go on a special mission you expect nobody to miss you at the front-line. Unfortunately everyone seem to feel unimportant and special at the same time

I see no reason to play PR, even with the Clan is hard to play when the team does not do anything and we have to carry the responsibility alone.

Re: What's happened to teamwork??
Unfortunately the teamwork is only as good as the players make it.
I think the big problem is really not many people stepping up to be squad leader or fulfilling the role properly these days as its a lot of work, even more so now with eight man squads.
I think if you guys really want to improve teamwork, its very much down to each and every one of you to step up and lead a squad or at the very least, work with your squad and try to help him out by perhaps leading a 4 man fire-team within the squad. One squad alone might not make a difference but when one squad works together, others normally follow.
On top of this a good commander can normally help bring the squads together too providing the SLs are open to listen to him.
All that being said, I still find you can find good teamwork in PR if you play on the right servers and at the right time, as well as trying to play with mates etc and even then you can normally find a couple of squads on any server working together but its hard to get a slot in them.

Re: What's happened to teamwork??
Its not like everthing is that bad. It depends on the server and the people who are online. Your team is "good" if you have 2-3 infantry squads that communicate or at least try to cap flags and it is enough if armor manages to drive by when you have a target for it. If you have good CAS its nice, but you dont really need it, the standard is CAS for 2-5 minutes that manages to kill one tank... Then you only need a transport chopper who tries to avoid these little red makers and everyhing is fine, you can enjoy the round. The enemy might win, but you can cooperate, communicate and try to get something done.
But often reality is:
Your armor gives shit about flags and has only one target - destroy enemy armor, no matter where
You have plently infantry squads but only yours and another got a squadleader and a medic
You got 6 people in CAS Squad, 2 with pilot Kit in mainbase, 1 with sniper kit "behind enemy lines" 1 marksman and and one heavy machine gun guy, of course nobody wants to fly the transport chopper and they lose no time to waste two transtrucks to get the perfect camping spot
APC refuse to transport you "because we got that one with the big gun, we must fight"
One Squadspot is blocked by a Sniper and is filled up with "yolo freekits" guys
Most communication in teamchat is about "no thats our asset mimi", instead of enemy positions
edit
Sure not enough squadleaders is a problem, but these people are not always noobs, it seems they just dont want to and i think one reason is: too much fancy stuff..why take a rifleman if you can have an heavy machine gunner, why playing medic in an infantry squad instead of being a silenced marksman....these people dont have to "teamwork" to get kills...
I dont want to change the topic direction, but i think the nerfing of basic kits like rifleman and medic made them less enjoyable and does make it more attractive to take a special kit and lonewolf around, especially if they got no clan or a prefered "teamplay" squad with people they know.

Re: What's happened to teamwork??
That's right it's not the game fault although the right tools can help it a bit, but at this point I can't think of anything that would improve that.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:Unfortunately the teamwork is only as good as the players make it.
The teamwork problem always gets bigger the fewer overall players there are and the fewer admins there are present. Some servers seem to live on the motto that a server half full of bad players is better than an empty server and therefore let bad behavior go less punished in an attempt to fill up the server.
On peak hours like Friday nights the teamwork is normally also peaking in my experience, since the admins kick people for small offences like lack of teamwork, which should really be higher on the list than "wasting" a jet or attack helicopter to enemy fire, because the guy that wants to take over the re-spawning CAS reported him.
CAS pilots that refuse high value targets like enemy CAS just to save there own *** and instead sit and wait (circle in orbit) +10 min for a lazed target don't get any problems though.

Well a lot of the people that played 0.98 and previous versions no longer play, so there's a big gap in PR left by the more Veteran players.Inspektura43 wrote:It's the players fault?

I do think however that 100 players has made PR somewhat more of a swarm and rush game, there's a little less caution than there used to be. I think it would be interesting to see a week where only 64 players servers were up and nametags were brought back in.
