After I patch to 1.4, the game simply crashes !!

I need help to fix an annoying problem I'm having after I patch to version 1.4.

Whenever I patch to 1.4, I cannot play BF2. The game simply crashes ( attemping to run it and then showimg me a black screen for 1 second and then closes the application and returns to my desktop). Though before I patched the game worked proparly.


Please help me ASAP !

2) 1.5
3) Install project reality.

I understand that and the full PR installetion, but whenever I update to 1.4, I can't enter the normal BF2 game.

Note : I have Special Forces installed BEFORE I've installed 1.4.

Are you patching to the 1.41 FULL patch.

There is a 1.4 patch that is problematic, we here on this forum always tell people to avoid downloading the 1.4 patch.


What is the source of your 1.41 patch?


Can you run BF2 1.4 in windowed mode?

In BF2, If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start BF2 in windowed mode by following the directions below:

Edit your BF2 shortcut and put this in it

"D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Don't just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you don't omit quotation marks or it wont work.
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.
