Because the NVG caused some problems on some video cards.

And the night maps are not dark enough to really require the NVG.

As fox said, the night maps are designed to be bright enough not to need NVGs. Technical issues regarding NVGs have currently prevented their implementation. Even now, alot of people trying to load BF2:SF maps will encounter the issues.

I was gonna say, is it really necesary for NVG's?

The maps are bright enough.

I wouldn't mind having a few night maps of popular maps.

Night maps would be a really nice change for the usual map rotation.

Night Marlin for example. I saw it on demo for 1.0, but never see it in rotation.

That's the Skirmish version.

I know its kinda a burden but why not just pick a map (of the devs choosing) and put it out there for the public. If it creates huge problems for people, then it won't get played. And i know that would happen for a fact because even the good maps get left out of rotations :-/. But if it does it gives the devs some breathing room from everyone constantly asking for new stuff. A previous user already stated that a night was already shown, why not that one? It also gives the devs some new ideas that could keep us calm while we wait for standalone. Or you could do it like how y'all released those christmas map packs a few years back( I REALLY miss playing those btw)

@xGHOST11x: Tad Sae is Night and almost never played. Like never ever. You don't see shit and shit your pants everytime you have contact. Probably why people don't like it :D . I think its awesome.

Rhino said something about planning to implement a Night Layer for Muttrah whenever he will find time to generally upgrade the map :)

Might gonna look like this :D >>>Spook's Adventures in Muttrah City - YouTube (cant embed because time mark feature won't work)

The main thing for me back when we did have NVGs where that they ended up being a disadvantage in some ways.

for example with the NVGs off, since there were no independent night time textures for the vehicle and player models, they'd essentially stand out from everything else which was pitch black. Modern games deal with this by having lighting neutral textures and then using proper lighitng in the game but that takes a lot of resources and time to sample and create, and even then takes a lot of post processing to make it work. to put it one way color IS light, so when someone's painting a texture it's impossible to pick your colours without lighting being a major factor.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.
