Unknown Startup Failure

Hey guys,

So after a while I reinstalled PR and everything seems to be working out. However, today I launched the game with the launcher and here's what happened. It had the little window that said "Launching BF2: PR" and that closed. Then, my screen goes black for about a second like the game was starting, then immediately stops and goes back to my desktop with a little window saying "Closing BF2: PR. Cleaning BF2: PR Resources...".

If I'm not mistaken, the second window is the one that comes on normal protocol after you close the game. With that fact, it appears then that my game is starting and then closing for no reason. I have no error boxes, no messages and nothing else that effects anything. So basically, I can't start the game.

I'm using Windows 8 (in which PR has worked before, so no biggie) and it's been a while since I played. If I'm leaving out an answer to something that should be known just tell me. Thanks

In PR, If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:
Start PRLauncher->
Options->
Video Tab->
UNTICK the Fullscreen tickbox->
Chose a display resolution and refresh rate that is smaller than your desktop resolution from the drop down menu, or create a custom resolution->
Click Apply

If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

hey mate i believe i was suffering same thing as you are , do you by any chance run AVG Free ? i disabled it and now my game runs fine
